Archanhell Posted March 22, 2020 (edited) Easy, tell this to them: "In Call of Duty, you fight germans/nazis (I forgot this, I think it's nazis) russians and other armies. Right? Well, imagine all of them are demons, and you have to kill them all, no trail. Basically, while on Call of Duty you are a soldier, on DooM you are a much more badass space marine that rip and tears through their preys as if it was their cotidian life, now go and learn how to play you m—" That will for sure teach them how to play the simplest FPS ever (If we talk about DooM I and DooM II, if 2016 and Eternal... ...Eh, still works). if it doesn't work, give up Edited March 22, 2020 by Archanhell 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Egg Boy Posted March 22, 2020 Interestingly, I had a friend over a while ago and he wanted to play Classic Doom on my PC, so I let him and he died multiple times on E1M1 on UV. Mind you, this guy is pretty good at counter strike, and much better than me at aiming and positioning. But I suppose Doom is much different, aiming isn't so important since there's auto aim, its more about dodging projectiles and using the right weapon at the right moment. Its kind of a first person bullet hell, so in that regard, I'd recommend telling someone new to focus more on dodging than on aiming. Obviously this only applies to classic Doom, as 2016 and Eternal are completely different beasts. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post

It would make more sense to have them play classic Wolfenstein. Most of the people I have tried to get into classic Doom really don't bitch at the difficulty, but rather bitch about how ugly the graphics look. 5 Quote Share this post Link to post

If they are gonna complain for the looks of a game without even delving deeper into the game, then I do not know what to say, that is just shameful :p And I do not know you, but from my point of view, classic Wolfenstein is more boring than classic DooM having seen how it is driven and all, but right now we are talking about DooM and not Wolfenstein so (?) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I only brought up Wolfenstein because you brought up CoD and how you kill Nazis just like how you do in Wolfenstein. Although there are 2 secret levels in Doom 2 where you kill Nazis. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
