"ISOLATION" speedmapping project - BETA 2 RELEASED

FranckFRAG-inspired (modest) challenge map, hopefully this passes for "breezy"! It's definitely short. Technically limit-removing but I did a quick check in -cl 9 as well. Difficulties implemented, too.

Cool. Seems like it'd be a great idea to distinguish more between the letters in isolation and the vertical bars  -- by treating letters somehow (coloring, darkening, bordering, etc.) or fading out the bars or anything in that vein.

Or there can be drawn 2 lines on bottom and top of I's maybe to differentiate. Or the bars could just be dots. Good art regardless!

 

I'll also very likely make a short map for this too. Haven't started yet but I'm just thinking of an idea that might work.

Had lots of fun with this. The Boom compatibility was a new challenge for me. I'm used to 3d floors all over the place so it was kinda neat to do something with a more classic feel.

Nope, I'm using the one from the OP. There is one that might have a red tint to it because I was getting damaged when I took the cap.

Name: Unrelenting Fear

Music: You Ain't the Boss O' Me by Jimmy

Description: In order to overcome your fears, you must survive some intense ambushes if you want to get out of here alive! The Cacodemons and lost souls (many generated by Pain Elementals) will try their best to terrorize you as you attempt to telefrag the Cyberdemon with an Arch-Vile joining in the fun. All skill settings, no sky and 1 player only. The map consists of 2 areas, a red brick area with crates and a watery palace with staircases.

 

I accidentally left a 2nd midi in the wad (Aldirgio) as D_STALKS as I was tossing up between which song I wanted to use and in the end I chose SIGIL'S E5M2 song because it has a rather tense and fearful feel to it. I forgot to delete the 2nd midi fro (not your fro Jimmy, I meant from) the wad. One of the secrets has an Easter egg related to panic buying.

I mean, i am forced to unless Jimmy & Friends stop mapping altogether. Seeing as @pcorf is making a map, that rule will never be met. ;)

Story: One night, you was almost sleeping at your couch, when the television turns on and there's the President with a important message! It must be really serious, but you don't speak backwards so you didn't understand anything.

Name: Covid Distribution Center

Music:  (Not yet determined)

Description: The Demons are at it again, but this time their strategy to turn the living is biological warfare. It seems like the Cacos are pretty virulent and now they seem to be barreling the stuff. We need to shut this machine down.

Notes: Ammo is fairly scarce as is health. Just like in the real crisis. Also note it is quite hard to find toilet paper.

 

Play this with your gloves and mask on.

 

Hopefully I didn't upload an older version of this so if its all broken kindly let me know, its been awhile since I've mapped so hopefully its at least a bit fun.

Edit: Be sure to play with Jimmy's 2 wads as well because it will have missing textures otherwise.
Edit2: Found a missing texture.

Edit3: Took some hints from everyone else's fantastic posting structure to restructure this post.

Edit4: Lots of bugfixes, improved lighting as my renderer for some reason was fullbright and I couldn't see how dark areas were (there are supposed to be a lot of dark areas, but even things that weren't supposed to be dark were), a lot more than the intended ammo packs were accidentally tagged to not spawn in hard mode. Shotgun at spawn. Chaingunners removed in hard mode and replaced with zombiemen as they fit the theme better.

Notes:

* The doors near the computer room were giving me real problems for no reason I could discern, hence why lights open with them, sorry =(

* Monster closets open too slowly, but using lifts caused issues with ceilings.

* Yes, one of the encounters is meant to be a pushover.

Hey folks, many thanks for your submissions! We're up to 20 maps!

 

Since the slots are going fast, it's looking likely that there'll be an overflow. Those of you who have submitted more than one map will not be so likely to have both submissions included in the final product - unless we get exactly 32 maps, or fewer.

 

I'm planning on doing a MAP30, for what it's worth.

Would you be able to upload a version without the text? It's probably gonna make a great INTERPIC, and that won't need text in the upper half of the image. :P
