Those times seem pretty good to me. I haven't tried the speed or the -fast options yet.

I'll take a look at another one of the maps (7 through 10) later this evening.

Do you plan to do Odyssey?

anyone know where I can get a good deathmatch demo on map01 with 4 (or more?) players? Ive seen 3 players get 671 frags in maxdemo timelimit and it was halarious...

never seen a 4 tho!

Oh yeah, that's right. Ghosts. I was confusing it with Alien Vendetta, and thinking FTW?

Kenny, there used to be a Legacy dm demosite that had some incredible carnage demos. the players were very good, but when you have 8 players on a Doom map, it doesn't really matter how good you are. :)
you could check my DSDA demolinks...

oops, I meant to say that the players weren't very good.. but no matter.

And Archvile attacks (probably the "splash" damage only, though.)

i d updated too... but unfortunately, I have to leave it. :(
I just don't have the time. if we move to the DSF, we can all manage it together.

I'll play it for sure (I've only played the first map so far), but don't know about recording any demos on it - some maps are more demo-friendly than others.

[Yes, I know, it was a bit naughty of me to recommend Odyssey in another thread when I hadn't played it all the way through, but based on the quality of Iditarod and the author's later work, I felt it was safe enough.]

BTW, has anyone informed the Doomworld newsguys about the DSDA update?

I just realized this computer had Doom II, so I downloaded Legacy and Grind2.wad and I'm going to watch some of those demos. ^_^ I won't record any until I get home today though.

Awesome demo! The infighting seemed to work pretty well. I never thought of doing that. I actually beat it without any infighting at all. Usually with about 4 ammo left. ;) It's fun to see people using new ideas in my own levels. I wonder what I'll see in the next one I release? I need to work on it a little more, it's about 33% on its way to being ready for beta testing.

Yeah, I had about 4 bullets left when I played it (nice wad - you don't see that many small-scale challenging maps like that one). I'll have to try the infighting thing, as it's not quite as obvious that you can do that in this map.

Thanks Nanami, glad you liked it. When I first played the map I thought where the Hell're all the monsters? But upon completing it I thought the ammo/monster balance was really good, well judged.
Those monsters were just dying to fight with each other, heh.
It would be interesting to play a version of this map packed with monsters also imo.

I could fill it with Cyberdemons like Plutonia MAP32. ;)

The next one to come out (Dream.wad) will have more monsters and a neat surprise. It'll also have some infighting requirements and some bigger monsters. A Pain Elemental for example. The third one in the series (Arena.wad) is going to have a Cyberdemon and another nice little surprise. The fourth and fifth levels I'm not sure of yet, but the sixth (last) is an Icon of Sin level. It's actually beatable in about 20 seconds even in UV, but for anyone playing it the first time, hopefully they will drown in death. ^_^

Indeed. It is hard to see what is gained by disabling this feature (does anyone ever accidentally put in more than one start for each player?) and it makes some wads not play properly (or not be completable, like with Ultimate DooMer's Heretic episode).

I was going to do something with voodoo players in my Grind episode, but I might not now since Legacy doesn't allow them, and I did want it to be an episode people can play with pretty much whatever source port they wanted.

My friend and I were co-oping Plutonia and on the level with the voodoo players, where you step on the square and you all get a BFG, it of course didn't work. Darn Legacy. We could have used a BFG on that level too. =/

Oh, by the way, Magikal and I are probably going to take control of the demo site since Opulent doesn't have time for it. ^_^

I realize Opulent can't do it because he is already overloaded so I'm glad to hear you both will maintain the site!

As we already know, at least to the best of my knowledge:

1) In the compet-n both iwads and special pwad megawads are used and the demo list includes only the fastest. You do have the option to look at previous dates.
2) In the DSDA players are usually trying for their absolute best times recording pwads which are rated by Opulent. This site allows multiple demos of the same pwad.
3) Our demo site is founded on the idea that iwad lmps are accepted along with any pwad and there is no pressure to be the fastest. This site allows multiple demos of the same wad.
4) There are other sites like Pdang and the DSF but I'm not familiar with the details.

Overall, something for everyone.

I have a bad problem with a demo.

I beat MAP32 Plutonia single player and I DON'T want to do it again. The demo I recorded actually recorded the last two runs I did. One of which I died. So to see the good one, a person has to sit through about 15 minutes of the first one. Can I fix this? I can't, I bet. =( Can I somehow re-record the second part of the demo? Is there a demo editor? Is there a command line to skip ahead past the death? Someone help please!

Yes there's demo editors that allow you to cut off portions, but I'm not sure how they would work on doom legacy demos...
