Soulless Posted March 24, 2020 (edited) Finished this map that I started last year. Intentionally was just a funny project to recreate an arcade room. Quarantine made the rest. Also recorded a playthrough to put every trigger to test, 100 %. Have fun and stay safe. GZDoom Replaces Map04 Doom II UV only ( not sure if I will include other diff ) Freelook: Optional ( Tested myself and works fine ) Map : Arcade Station https://mega.nz/#F!swoyUCZA!qP0nnoo0EsPoP21BZYlbIA https://imgur.com/a/xRyl47s Edited September 25, 2021 by Soulless new link 5 Quote Share this post Link to post
Vorpal Posted March 31, 2020 This map was confusing and mismatched and chaotic and I loved it, only got 2/6 secrets though. I *saw* the bfg but couldnt figure it out, but by that time most of the stuff in the map was dead so unneeded. Only "bug" I noticed was a flaming barrel in the room north of spawn with the platforming puzzle - if you play vanilla style with infinitely tall actors, it interrupts the platforming. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Soulless Posted April 1, 2020 Glad you liked it, surely can be confusing, but I guess nothing too shady (trying to avoid it, after a few maps). BFG is just a secret on the arcade room, in case you are going for the "train return" trap, and make things faster. Tried to catch that bug, found the barrel but I cant see anything really, I can rework though. Thanks for the feedback! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Vorpal Posted April 1, 2020 Barrel just needs to be moved slightly so that its bounding box isnt butting into the platform 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Biodegradable Posted June 29, 2020 Another terrific map, Soulless. I really enjoyed myself. Level progression was neat, had me a little lost at some points, but not anything really frustrating and I didn't mind the small amount of backtracking. I think Hellrider might've borked some map functions, but hopefully not too much of a significant change to affect progression. I'm sure you'll be able to see anything from my footage and can let me know. Here's my playthrough:running on GZDoom + Hellrider Spoiler 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Soulless Posted June 29, 2020 (edited) Damn guys, thanks both of you, this was totally unexpected! Videos were really helpful. It feels like ages since I released this, and I think I could have done much better work, mostly route indications, secret clues, ammo balance probably. Some issues: Archvile on the pit area locked by bars: trigger is kinda out of place, it works depending on what the player does, so its a lottery. I still dont know why people cant see the doomguy reflection (mirror) in the bathroom, all 3 playthroughs that ive seen had the same problem. A button on one arcade machine that does nothing, confusing the player, since other machines do reveal things. On the arcade room, when you pick the yellow key, a wall opens revealing a room with a teleport and one archvile, @Biodegradable was really fast on the second attempt and the monsters didnt have a chance to see the player, and follow him through the teleport, making things way easier and softlocking the remaining monsters.@Clippy took his time to clear some of the mosters before getting to the teleport, which was the safest way to do it. Again, you never know what the player would do, thats why I highly appreciate this videos. The list of things I have to rework on my previous maps is getting bigger he he Thanks for playing guys. SuperCupcakeTactics Posted June 29, 2020 Hey I just played this and it is indeed a great map! It kicked my butt a lot too. Fun and interesting design that kept me engaged even throughout all of my deaths. Nice texturing and of course the arcade room is very pleasant :) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
