Trying to make hell on earth in gzdoom builder

UPDATE:

I restarted the entire map in GZDoom Builder. that way i can make 3d floors and put in more detail. Here are some pictures of what i have so far

also i am stuck on what i should do for the block. i made it into a lift but it doesnt go high enough to get to the 2nd floor. any help is appreciated :)

OLD:

This is my first time really investing a lot of time into doom builder, mainly because im trying to figure stuff out :) also i dont really know how to put in the chandeliers or the cages or chains hanging from the ceiling :/

 

does anybody know how to improve this?

Having finished the game around 4 times now and scanning the environments. I would say it is extremely possible to demake the entire game into a wad format. Their are specific moments that have to be left out, such as the Hell Barges and the final boss encounter needs to be heavily changed, but otherwise its doable.

 

Would take a LOT of sprite work and coding to be able to get the Khan Maykr, the Gladiator, and Urdak to work in the old games though.

I suppose you could borrow the Angel sprite from Eviternity, and some of the heaven textures for Urdak.

Maybe add some lighting sectors for contrast and to try to match the light spilling in from places in the original.

 

Borrow some chandelier sprites (and maybe other bits and bobs) from Heretic or Hexen.

I think most of Eternal's maps are a bit too advanced, they'd make more sense in some GZDoom based maps.

And considering the art styles differences (someone here even suggested Eviternity), i feel like Urdak being this weird alien Heaven doesn't seem like the Heaven that could have been in classic Doom.

 

But yeah, that map looks good.

Maybe with enough time, some people will make Eternal based assets for classic Doom.

yea i mean i started working on the chainsaw room and i already ran into a roadblock which is the block you punch to get to the next floor. i could leave it out and just make the next floor but the problem is i dont know how to make multiple floors lol

Speaking of Urdak and my talk about what an old school Doom Heaven could be, i feel like adding more to a reinterpretation of the Kahn Maykr, that could be called "Angel Mastermind".

 

* Looks like a typical humanoid angel statue, even if she can still be creepy
* Humanoid face inspired by that cut 64 monster
* Made of old iron or steel, she's almost like a statue but still somewhat robotic or at least android-like
* Golden feather wings
* Brain resembles a pope hat
* Golden ring/halo connecting head and brain/hat
* Gameplay: maybe similar to how she is in Eternal but with psychokinesis to parallel the SMM's hitscan
* Story: she betrays Heaven and teams up with Hell. may or may not be backstabbed by Hell for being dumb enough to trust them in the first place. when Hell punishes/humiliates her, they turn her into a horrible creature, looking like a demonic alien.

* There is a reason for why she'd betray Heaven like growing a sudden hate of humans or wishing to rule her own Heaven. (maybe something else)


Basically to fit that hypothetical "old Doom Heaven" idea and a canon where they're not really evil and much like humans and Martians, they get invaved by Hell.

 

Not an artist, so this is what i got, even if it looks shitty.
May or may not inspire someone to do it better.
