plums Posted May 12, 2020 (edited) I figure this is as good of a place as any to ask... I thought I'd try to host a lan co-op game the other day. I was having trouble getting people to join using Doomseeker, until I figured out that the join command-line it's using is like this: /usr/bin/zandronum -connect ::ffff:192.168.1.101:10667 -iwad /home/user/Games/doom/doom2.wad the relevant part is the ::ffff: which I guess is something to do with mapping an IPv4 address into IPv6? The same thing is happening on the Windows machines. Connecting through the command-line and omitting the ::ffff: works fine, but I'd like other people to not have to use the command-line. I don't know if this is something to do with my router, or Doomseeker, but is there a way to make it not add that to the IP? Edited May 13, 2020 by plums 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted May 12, 2020 Have you tried creating a server with Doom Explorer? If so, does it do the same thing? 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
plums Posted May 13, 2020 (edited) @Doomkid Good idea, thanks. I can make the server on my computer, and join with the command-line, which I'm fine with, and other people seem to be able to join just fine with Doom Explorer. So that solves the problem well enough. (I could also join if someone else made the server of course, but it's easier if I do it.) Making the server with Doom Explorer doesn't seem to change anything for people trying to connect through Doomseeker but I have the only Linux computer so other people can just use DE to join. It looks like maybe Doomseeker is more IPv6 aware than Doom Explorer, but probably something on my router/network/computer is not properly set up for IPv6. But troubleshooting network problems is about my least favourite thing ever so I'm not going to investigate further as long as this works.
