They say you can't polish a turd, but watch as Bass Slapper takes the Crapstone and molds it into a Goldstone.

Lmao that's funny. I am determined to do so. ;)

I never had a chance to play Witchhaven in my youth. I'll look into it soon.

Besides Doom, Jazz Jackrabbit and other DOS games, Corridor 7 (Shareware lol) was fun to play from what I remember. I believe a couple years back, www.myabandonware.com had the opportunity to download full versions of any game that was made in the 90's for free. I immediately downloaded familiar DOS games, including Corridor 7... I'll have to admit, Corridor 7 was fun, but not a huge fan of the mazes.

This TC is definitely gonna be looked upon when it comes to detail. Mazes won't be featured and no harmful, invisible laser barriers. ;)

as far as i know, myabandonware still does that, in fact, i had no clue they, at one point, didn't

Oh really? nice. A friend of mine was asking for Doom and I checked it would either send me to steam or GOG... I'll have to look again.

Thank you for pointing that out.

I think the Capstone games had plenty of good elements, they just weren't given the work, care, followthrough and polish they needed. C7 has neat enemies with some satisfying death animations, and although the starting rifle is drawn with incorrect perspective and looks like it's pointed upward 45 degrees, the three-barrel gatling blaster is great.

Witchaven has some really good art design and some good gameplay ideas, it's just very poorly executed and balanced. The stop-motion monsters are great, and the weapons are cool-looking. I also really enjoyed the music.

A few years ago, when I had more time on my hands, I started trying to bring the goblins into zdoom, but the scale is off, you have to fuss over offsets and palettes . . . it's a ton of work. So I appreciate what you're doing!

Oh that 3 barrel Gatling gun was and still is my favorite. The enemy types in Corridor 7 were unique for its time.

I really need to check out gameplay of Witchhaven. :)

Hey no prob, I'll get on with Corridor 666 eventually. I was told there needs to be more changes with Jazz Jackrabbit Doom, so I'll be looking at what I can change. It shouldn't be long since they're minor issues.

Loving the aesthetic! Gives me a very mid-90s cartoon game vibe, like Chex Quest for example.

Thanks buddy. Very much appreciated. :)

My progress for the day!

So, I've been extremely busy updating Jazz Jackrabbit Doom, as y'all have seen.

I'm waiting for other things to be taken care with that project, so I'll be switching back this for now.

Hey everyone! Hope all is well.

So, I already know you all are probably or are going to laugh but

I am working on a new Doom mod of an older FPS, Corridor 7, that didn't

do well. LOL

I chose to work on this, mainly cause:

  1. I want to stay busy.
  2. It needs another chance but with more advanced features and game play.

My goal is to design better detailed looking maps and no confusing mazes.

I am gonna design the maps like the way I did with Jazz Jackrabbit Doom... straight forward maps...

With the Operation Body Count remade in DooM some time ago, this will be 2 (IIRC) Capstone games remade into a (certainly) better mod. Will all of them eventually be done? Witchhaven? Tekwar?

As far as Tekwar goes, Bass Slapper '98 will have to do his best William Shatner impressions for the cutscenes, though.

for fun, i decided to texture that model i sent earlier, the texture is included, you will still need to set up the DECORATE for it yourself, though

vehicle.zip

Thank you again :)

btw, I keep forgetting to ask, but the vehicle file you sent me the first time, do I simply drag it into DECORATE?

I did but it shows no results. Not sure if I'm doing it wrong.

I'm looking forward to blasting these baddies!

Do you think you'll turn the floaters into true flying enemies? The gameplay could turn out pretty interesting.

I never played TekWar much, but I'm sure there's a good game in there if the ideas got the work they deserved.

I mean, let's not forget there's a whole tier of shooter games BELOW Capstone, that have virtually no redeeming values or creativity or artistry or passion in them. Fortress of Dr. Radiaki? Island Peril?

I won't be able to mod for awhile. My work from home computer is on the fritz, so I had to swap with my personal computer.

Hopefully I'll get my work computer fixed soon. It's been a few days but I miss modding...

That is a great idea about making the floating enemies fly. I will take care of that ;)

My progress for today!

MAP02: Sector 2 (WIP)

I gave it a lot of thought to make this mod more interesting.

I looked more into scripting and I got to say, I am finally getting the hang of it.

To give that "aliens took over" vibe, I added:

  • Floor and ceiling waggle scripting - to make the alien looking textures a breathing effect.
  • Scrolling floor, wall and ceiling textures - I added a scroll effect to look like it's slithering and more detail.
