Love this @Clippy, i didn't expect this to finally happen!!! now i am HAPPY. Going to fix some stuff right away, also you were the first one to play the maps with the new monsters sprites. Please note that map 20 is still not ready,and that i think i will remake map 7 so, if you ll ever want to play everything and unless i fixed it by that time, skip it:)

today i will upload imp world,  i played it yesterday but i uploaded all the ten maps of nemopor (a mapset that was posted here these days) and youtube takes a long sweet time (at least for me) to upload videos of that lenght so i didn't have enough time, today i will also play next map as well, so maybe 2 videos for you! No rush with map 4, it's nasty, do it when you feel you have time to lose and will to swear :P

CHANGELOG 11/07

 

- Map 20, Moonchildren, was added, still not tested though (should be done soon, probably tomorrow), so i can't assure that it is bug-free.

It is a short/medium level featuring an optional secret fight, taking inspiration from sunlust, which gives you some goodies to start the next level.

Here is a screenshot

- Custom sprites for the following monsters were added:

Zombieman, Sergeant, chaingunner, revenant, arachnotron, cyberdemon and spider mastermind.

Keep in mind that they are very simlar to the original monsters, and they act the same. This is just a test too see if people will like it, it's nothing definitive yet.

Also a new death animation was added to the hks.

-doomdefs added, with flickering items so they can be seen even in dark areas, and also to make a cool effect.

 

 

From now on i will start making an episode zero, since many people complained about the megawad starting too roughly, i will add 5 introductive maps, so rather than continuing with the megawad i will return back :)

I played maps 5 and 16. Played like a shit but whatever.

In map 5 I can skip many encounters really easily. I suppose that it was done intentionally

It's good that you replaced that cyber with mastermind, otherwise it is really awkward to kill that cyber. But you can still cheese this fight by not activating a linedef which closes the bars. 

In the room before the exit I don't see why you put barons there and not HKs. Anyway, I didn't have to kill them) Also the final fight in that room is also extremely easy. I think I did it like in this playthrough in my first attempt at this map. Of course, I was lucky that I run to the right side of the room but still this fight can be cheesed too easily.

 

Map 16 is decent. The craco secret which I found is garbage but other than that all sections are pretty good. Only the platforming section felt a bit unfair for me as you cannot really dodge revenant missiles on those pillars and all those lost souls are just annoying.

My favourite fight is the cyber-HK-PE slaughter, nicely designed

In the manc+hk fight maybe you will give a RL? It's a bit tedious to kill all that stuff with SSG. Also I didn't quite get the next rev fight and just run away from it. It seemed quite tricky to run around revs in that room.

And does this map allow me to backtrack? I didn't checked it as always 

 

Concerning the visuals, I only noticed some slight misalignments at various points and a strange half-switch in the platforming section in map 16.

 

Didn't complete map 20 yet but it looks intense!

I gladly watched your playthrough, especially of map 5 since it's been a while that i modified it and i needed to check how it was.

so, i didn't do it intentionally, but i think it's okay if people find ways to exploit some fights and cheese them, i also do it a lot of times when it is possible, when the map is not well interconnected (as in this case) it happens more often, it's not a big deal, if you are okay in not trying uv max and you just want to complete the map then what's the problem?:) The important thing is that a trap works well first try, then you can search for an escamotage, and traps in this wad usually are not forgiving.

 

Cyber spider swap:   i did this switch many times already, cause sometimes i felt cyber was better, but then splash damage ruins everything especially if the bars are up and if you are low on health, in the end i opted for the mastermind, and the fact that you are confirming that it is the right choice reassures me.

 

About the barons, there's not a real reason, but i will probably put hks, barons are too grindy at that point of the map, thanks for the advice.

 

PS: that fucking revenant glitch at the beginning, it was ages since i saw it, i thought i got rid of it but no... i can't understand...

Every section has a cracko secret, they are all troll secrets with useless items inside LOL. So basically if you find the secret you make things worse, also the switch in the platforming area (I GOT MY REVENGE ON YOU WITH PLATFORMING) wasn't a glitch it was a switch for the secret, im glad you didnt press it or else you would have had a cracko in that mess. That part angered my brother as well, but Hak managed to complete it second try, you take the rad suit you kill the souls and then you are basically done, i think you were just playing bad haahaha (for once in your life you were SLOPPY).

I didn't want to give a RL there cause it would make things too easy, i mean the hard part there is to clean up a side, with an ssg it requires some strategy, then yes the hks become grindy but i don't know i think it's not the end of the world, i don't think im gonna change it.

 

After you kill the boss you may have noticed green lasers behind him, that's a teleporter to get you back and from there you can explore each section again, i always allow backtracking unless i forget for some reason ;)

 

I didn't see the misalignments but i will check it out better, thanks for all this feedback, you are very kind as usual, and it's always fun to watch you play!

 

About map 20, since i want you to do the optional fight, i ll give you a hint: check behind the waterfall and then from there you will know where to go! (maybe). It's very sunlust inspired so please forgive me if i did it wrong, i tried my best! there's always room for improvement :)

yea... i am sorry m8! But this one of the hardest so no worries! It s my take at odissey of noises made unfair and full of shit. There are only 2 open maps in the wad until now and not everybody likes them, also some of the most unfair hitscanners were removed yesterday in the update cause yea they were too cheap i think :)

And now you have met the first Cracko! Get ready to face a lot of them in the future, not just one at a time!

anyway the revenant bug was finally fixed, terrible terribleeeeee

i'm glad we're friends again, but with the next map you are gonna kill me with tons of curses.

cells secret was simple, just walk on the ledges, there were ledges there dudeeeee!!!

i am glad that you pressed on with the megawad! I feel sorry for map 07 but i told you there was something wrong there, it makes my computer lag a bit as well, it's not because of the monster (that i took from realm 667) but because of the linedefs and vertices. To make that area and that effect with the pillars i had to use maybe thousands of vertices and that makes it lag a lot when together with that monster, so i need to fix the whole map, i don't really know how :(

 

im sad that you didn't find a secret in close to close to dog cause in that map there is the only troll secret (until now), i really hope someone will find it ahahahahah

PS: you always start discouraged and then you see the fights are all doable! you just need to BELIEVE IN YOU!!!

Haha no prob

 

Close to close to dog is my fave map so far. Visually stunning and interesting atmosphere

 

Yes I did not think I could beat the final swarm _ very satisfying when I pulled it off. I take back my concerns I had when I was failing haha

I played map 20. Played really crappy as usual)

Honestly, I didn't enjoyed the main part of the map, mainly because of this tedious clear off of everything sitting around. I also had to play safely (which I don't like) because of the perpetual lack of health (my fault, I guess). 

But the bonus fight is really cool. I spent like 30 mins trying to figure out the intended strategy but in the end it turned out to be quite straightforward.

Crushers were kind of pointless in that fight, though) at least they look cool.

Maybe you can make several levels of revs to make them more threatening, but it doesn't really matter if you circumstrafe properly. 

It's difficult to hide from AVs if they target you. If stand behind pillars you will likely eat a rocket. It's okay to take 1-2 hits but still it's a bit rng whether they will want to target you.

I liked how you made to layers of HKs + barons so you cannot bfg behind the horde right at the start. 

 

The final platform felt a bit slow. I would rather put a sequence of 2-3 switches to exit the arena.

 

Texturing is very solid and I like it.

hey! hello man :)

i m sorry that you played the pre tested version, cause after my brother tested it for the first time it was clear that the map had two major problems:

1) health, so i added some health

2) the second cyberdemon, which is impossible to kill both because of ammo and because of space. So i added ammo and space and another thing as well. Also now he can shoot in an area below and you can shoot at him from there as well.

I think that last fight worked more or less as intended, i just placed a mega instead of soulsphere and i also added a small pillar there (where the mega is) in order to give a sort of "safe" spot from the archie cause i think it was needed.

About the platform: it was the only thing that came to my mind there, it actually played good with my brother cause he (unlike you) chose to bfg the archies and run on the elevator, it was quite fun cause some barons jumped in as well and he was desperate at health and also it was more or less playing that part for half an hour, he managed to escape from there somehow and then he returned back with new health and ammo. So i think that is a plan too and i should maybe keep it :9

 

Thanks for the rest, i now know that you don't like "sort of" open areas with turretes and no safe spots, you prefer situational combat and setpieces, i like that too but i do like as well, sometimes, to make these kind of scenarios.

The cyberdemon was a bit much and not really needed. I also get disappointed when I can't achieve 100% kills

 

Again your levels look beautiful but you seem to like to go overboard with encounters

 

Great maps don't need to be jam packed to the gills with monsters in my opinion

the important is that everything can be fixed, that's why i need more playtesting, i already changed stuff in first maps after austinado tried them, mostly ammo issues. So thanks for trying them, until now there were no problems but only 3 people or 4 played the maps that i know so i couldn't be totally sure. I'm always open for advices as usual :)

 

edit: next map is the hardest of the episode, so don't kill me (my opinion)

edit 2: don't quit when you ll see map 12 monster count, it's all a bluff!

So yeah, after brief visit in Happy I would say this is up there in quality with the best wads of all time. Totally blown away. Polish this gem well, guys. "Happy" might even be an understatement for me for the prospect of playing this wonderful megawad.

anyway starting this one with that health was rough i am sorry about that ahhaha

but you managed it quite well i must say! good job, next map is a breather, you won't believe the monster count :) but it's just to make you ready for the worst

thanks as usual for playing this, and if you are slowly becoming mad then i am doing a good job

- Have you had other wad names in consideration for this black-metal goodness? Maybe other names indicating insanity would sound as epic as Eviternity?

- Will you arrange some good cover art / menu background for this? I'd love to include it in my showcase of the greatest Doom wads of all time: https://i.imgur.com/Bi8aQpP.jpg If I was responsible for this wad, I'd seek to have some black metal cover and logo for it made for sure.

hey m8 you can make any questions you want :)

 

everything is temporary until i release this wad, i would like to finish it by the end of the year, right now for example i am working on a new episode one instead of episode 4. I named this Happy when i wasn't even thinking about making a megawad, it was just 6 random maps so i may change the name as well. The cover art may change as well, i need to ask my friend (the one who made the arts) to create a logo, cause i am not good at it. Maybe this one will be the cover cause it represents better what this wad is becoming

i m using it as INTERPIC but like i said things can definetely change. Right now i ll continue working on the maps themselves. Also let me know if you have someone good with logos who would like to cooperate, and i'll let you know if i will change the name of the megawad.
