Suggestion: put weekly/one-day events in its own separate sub-category

Recommended Posts

Weekly multiplayer events are alive and at large, but one small issue I came across is that they tend to drown out all of the topics regarding other types of events, making it less trivial to find new bigger announcements/events when there are so many topics dedicated to weekly events floating around. I would suggest either of the following:

  1. Create a sub-category dedicated exclusively to one-day and weekly events. ZDS, TNS, USQC and similar events would go here, and everything else would stay on the main category, filtering topics in this forum in a more organised way.
  2. Encourage managers of ZDS, TNS, USQC and others to create singular megathreads for their respective events (as seen here, for example). This would mean ZDS has only one topic, TNS has only one topic and so on, and new announcements would be made as replies to these topics. This would keep these topics active and better centralise attention in the form of views and posts without drowning out other topics, and users would be able to use the Follow function on specific events they're interested in over the current all-or-nothing approach.

Thanks for your time!

I understand the suggestion, but since threads tend to stay on page 1 for about a whole month anyway due to limited activity in this subforum, I don’t think such a division is needed, at least not presently.

With megathreads, history tends to get lost in the folds - if there’s a particular event or set of screenshots you want to find a year or two or more after the event takes place, scouring a megathread becomes a total slog.

To further illustrate what I mean, I do think wads & mods is pretty desperately in need of a division between WIPs and finished products, similar to the type of division you’ve suggested here, however the only reason is because threads stay on the first page for maybe a day, if they’re lucky, before getting pushed back. If we were seeing that kind of overflow-level traffic in this subforum I’d definitely be singing a different tune! As it is though, there’s so few new threads made in any given month that it hardly seems worth it.
