Doomworld's lesser-known feature...

So I was browsing through Fraggle's profile out of curiosity when I found this. Not sure how exactly this works, but I think this will come in handy for those who want to make collaborative projects but have no access to other apps/facilities.

You can access the Teams page here. Surprisingly there's only one such team available, although judging by the group's URL number, there may have been others that are not shown for some reason.

Probably, there's no such need in forum Teams anymore since most people collaborate in Discord or some other convenient place for discussions and content share.

Oops. I accidently clicked on Join Team and now it is waiting for approval. I can't cancel the request somehow.

I wouldn't mind if such a team would exist to resurrect the NewStuff Chronicles though. The DoomWorld Editor List, or something like that.

I'm involved with a megawad project that has a team forum here. Discussions take place on Discord but maps are posted on the forums, it's a convenient way of organising map submissions and feedback, plus some people don't use Discord.

You can also talk to multiple forum members in the same chat thread via messages.

I also do, for some users, but not when it comes to posts/mentions since that's useless here - no don't ask who. When their posts get quoted they still show up so there's no point.

 

As about the topic, yeah, I noticed that group when I first visited fraggle's profile. It seems to be just a group for Chocolate Doom developers. I wonder if there ever were more and only this one survived.

I made one a couple of weeks ago that lasted a day. only Gokuma and I wrote on it. it was fun while it lasted. now with discord and stuff, there really is no point to it.

What the hell is this? I see InDOOMnesia's name on it, and thought he may know. I then clicked on his name and no team came up like it does for Fraggle, so did they just add it out of nowhere? I clicked it, and for 1 whole second, I saw that it looked like a team, then it said I wasn't allowed to access it! how strange!

Oh, I think me accessing it was a glitch, actually. As I had only seen it for like a second, then the screen turned to black. I've just never seen it before, so it surprised me. I wonder if this is going to be a whole new thing? Like several team forums will be here. I'm surprised there isn't one that brings back the Newstuff Chronicles by a different author. I would imagine a lot of people trying to make that, but I guess not. Pretty cool you got a team, though!

Oh wait, just noticed that you're following the Doomworld teams feed, which may explain why it appeared on your screen. Hypnotik also used the Follow feature, in which case the case is the same.

Try opening it again and unfollowing it maybe?

Did it! I can't access anything, it just shows the page and pops off. although now I know why I saw it. The last team made, was a team I made. It was only on for a day before a moderator took it off. it was an awful idea about a chat room for DOOM. Hypnotic and I followed it, and I guess maybe to save space, they used the same old team, and deleted everything, which then they gave to you. That's my guess, but now I no longer follow it. It still appears in the forums, though.

Oh my! Turns out it has to be hidden manually to not make it appear outside of the team. I wonder why though.

strange. I would hide it, though. you don't want anybody who isn't in the team to see that. Strange feature, though. luckily, you figured it out.

Unfortunately, hiding the topic also hides it from other members. Oh well, I'll let it shown, though. Maybe it can attract those interested in contributing? ;)

@DuckReconMajor I wonder why? He seemed to be one of the earliest bans ever on DOOMWorld. Probably because he posted 477 comments in one day. that is probably the reason why he was ignored by everyone. I mean seriously, 477 posts! The most I posted was like 30, but 477!

I figure this and Endless Wadzine are going to be good Newsstuff substitutes.

Actually I was going to start a team of people who keep records of mapping tricks, but actually that’s a cooler idea.

Ed: Oh and @AtticTelephone, I would make it an open team. That way anybody could join. I guess there is also a way to find it at the bottom of the screen like InDOOMnesia's team, although I'm not sure how.
