Recommend a scary/atmospheric texture replacement pack

Asking because all anyone ever does is HD. Or they miss the style completely. Or it's a bunch of amateurs slapping together textures they've found and something stupid will happen like that skybox never changing between Doom 1 and 2. And also I'd like it to look spooky. Like out of silent hill or resident evil.

DarkBase has a number of modified Doom textures that would fit this theme. There are more in a similar style (plus a bunch of others) in the first Gothic Boredom pack.

 

If you want a massive set of textures made from scratch, OTEX has quite a few that would fit your desired theme.

Those are cool but I actually wanted a ready made texture replacer. One that you load up and that replaces the stock textures in the stock maps. Would you happen to know any like those?

there is one that change the stock textures into Doom 64 textures, and if you set the sector lightning to Dark and load also the the psx soundtrack/D64 soundtrack you will have a really interesting experience while playing the original set of maps.

I have seen a few of those but none seem to be complete or be general replacers. A PBR pack is available for Doom 64 which is pretty sweet. I don't know why there isn't a complete PBR set available for Ultimate Doom or Doom 64.

Sorry, I somehow missed the replacer part. If the packs suggested by <<Rewind isn't to your liking, a lot of the DarkBase and Gothic Boredom packs are just darkened and grunged up versions of the original textures, so it shouldn't be too much work to go through and rename them in Slade.

 

You could in theory do the same with OTEX as quite a few of those are remakes of original textures, however you would end up with a lot of gaps in sets (e.g. OTEX has equivalents to some but not all of the TEKGREN textures). There are also cases where there are two or more remakes of the same texture (there are multiple equivalents of SUPPORT3, for example).

Doesn't seem to be working for me. Besides, that's one of the ones I was talking about that has that same dark industrial skybox for every level, doesn't matter whether its tech base themed, hell themed or something else.
