WolfenStock -- a new contest for those music loving Doomworld members!

looking around, I find things like the MAYhem challenge, Cacowards, and so much more! And I have posted many topics lately about music, so this came along short after. post a song you made for a WAD or another person's song from a WAD (state the WAD) and in a short time (no deadline yet) I with somebody else (possibly) will vote for the best track. I'm not the best with this stuff, so if anybody wants to help come up with rules just communicate with me, and we can figure things out. there will be an overall winner who will possibly win something (hoping it will be a custom title). right now there are limited rules, but that may change in the future. 

here are the rules (as of now). 

• No specific Genre 
• keep it short (no more than 4 minutes)
• no lyrics (singing)
• don't post a joke song
• if it is not your song, state the creator
• no remixes of other songs 
• no remakes of other songs
• post full song
• no more than 3 songs per member
• if it is somebody else's song, do not make it an official song from DOOM 1/2/3/4/Eternal
• make sure it fits the DOOM genre (don't make a song about a unicorn and a puppy getting ice cream at the park)
• choose your favorite song from your library, not just a random one (if you like it, most likely somebody else will)

I hope all of you have fun. Of course, any help I can get would be great, so please just write a status update to me or something similar. Rewards are pending, and updates will come soon.

Great idea! Very interesting contest, especially considering how many great midi there are out there and of how many different genres other than metal.

I would really love to see this place flooding with good music and people showing their love towards it. It's a rather little-discussed topic I am really interested in.

 

I would definetely put up "Dark Forest" by Stuart Rynn from map 25 of Speed of Doom. Such a good, atmospheric yet eerie track the likes of which I have never found in a doom map ever since. The worst is that nobody talks about it!

 

Another one I like is "The Everlasting Negative" by Mark Klem from map 21 of Requiem. This one really sounds like something out of an elder scrolls game or a 90's crpg in general. It would probably make a great credits map/cast sequence/D_EVIL song for doom rather than a map song.

 

That's it from me. I don't know if more than 1 songs are allowed, so if you choose to limit it to only 1, I say definetely dark forest over the other one.

I always liked that song from the first map of Project UBER ("Peace Brings Pain" by PERVOK). In fact, a lot of that music was good - I'm also really digging MAP06C (".vent." by VegetarianMeat).

 

Also worth mentioning: Action Doom 2's D_FARM, "When Hugo Crazy" by Rakohus, or as we'd better know him as, Ralphis. Nice, tense, atmospheric.

Rather than just have one or two judges, why not organise this in the style of the Doomworld Community Top WADS of All Time thread, and have everyone allocate points?

@NiGHTMARE it could get a bit messy, I'm also planning to update this now, because I think I'll do it like one single winner overall, and a winner per category (maybe like best metal song, hardest song to play, best simplistic melody, etc.) . I'd also really like a moderator to give the winner a custom name, so if anybody knows a list of like the moderators on Doomworld, that would help a lot. I really hope more people would like to participate, because I love listening to music.
