forgettable pyromaniac Posted July 5, 2020 I created this account purely to ask this question, so sorry if it's not the best or if this is the wrong place to ask about this. I've looked around and I haven't heard of the problem anywhere else. I've been working on my own map set for a bit, just as practice to get better at map design in my spare time. Whenever I try to open the file though, it opens up Ultimate Doom instead of Doom II, which is the version of Doom I created and edited the maps in. Opening it within Doom Builder works fine, but opening it via double clicking on the wad itself is not working. My wad currently has 2 maps in it if that helps with identifying the problem at all (MAP01 and MAP02) I've included pictures to try and help make more sense of what I'm trying to sayingOnce again, sorry if this is the wrong place to ask about this issue. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
boris Posted July 5, 2020 In GZDoom go to Options -> Miscellaneous Options -> Show IWAD selection dialog <- set to "On". Then GZDoom should ask what game you want to start when you double click the map. Make sure the "Don't ask me this again" checkbox ist not checked. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

It already is set to on, though? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
boris Posted July 5, 2020 Well, does it show the dialog where you select the game? You'll have to select Doom 2 there, obviously. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Dark Pulse Posted July 5, 2020 (edited) As boris said, this basically sounds like you accidentally told it to always load Ultimate Doom, and ticked the "Don't Ask Me Again" checkbox. You can either edit the configuration file, change a certain variable in the console or menu, or hold down Shift immediately after double-clicking gzdoom.exe to bring up the IWAD selection dialogue. From there, make sure you un-tick "Don't Ask Me Again," and of course, make sure you select the proper IWAD for your maps. Alternatively, you could use a launcher. I personally use ZDoom Executor (which works just fine with GZDoom). Edited July 5, 2020 by Dark Pulse 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Hitboi Posted July 5, 2020 (edited) Try adding IWADINFO or GAMEINFO into your Wad file. They make the Wad compatible for a specific Iwad. Here's a Doomwiki page that explains that: https://zdoom.org/wiki/GAMEINFO, https://zdoom.org/wiki/IWADINFO Edited July 5, 2020 by HitBoi64 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

abandoned account Posted August 2, 2020 Open the console while in the game and type "listmaps", that shows you what maps are loaded (ex: e1m1 - doom.wad, map01 - yourwad.wad) If they're there then jump to them with console commands. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
