Are R667 resources modifiable (with credit)?

129thVisplane

Question

So before I get too carried away with my super mega cool and whatnot TC-esque project, I just wanna ask if Realm667 resources are free to be used and modified, with credit given to the original creators/editors of course. I don't think I've really seen them used in a modified form in any wads, and R667 itself is kinda vague from what I've seen, only really saying you can use them. And I don't wanna step on any toes or break any rules, so I thought I'd ask.

I've seen them modified pretty frequently -- some of them even appear in non-ZDoom projects, where they're converted to Dehacked and given completely different behavior. I'm pretty positive the intended purpose of anything in the repository is that it's a resource to be used however you see fit, provided you give appropriate credit.

Yes, that's the entire point of having a resource site. Just keep the credits and mention it's modified.

If it doesn't say in the files' readmes themselves, it'd be at least good to try to reach out to the creators and ask for permission, assuming they left contact info.

If there is no mention of copyright for actors on REALM667 then it would seem that copyright has been

forfeited and the actors are to be considered public domain. Just as there is with maps, which in most

cases state in an accompanying ReadMe text file "You may use" or "You may not use". But some do not

bother with such.

However, it would still be a good move to at least inform the creator of the original actor/map of your intention.

If for nothing else but peace in the forum.

I've downloaded loads from R667, and modified some of it too. Obviously I will put the names of the people who created the resources I used and modified in the readme.txt of my mod.

I am using the IMPALER CROSSBOW in my wad. It's a really cool weapon and I thought it would be cooler if I changed a couple lines of DECORATE for the projectile. Is it more polite to include the credits provided or to include myself after ETTiNGRiNDER as a coder?
