Got it in 39 seconds. I didn't even bother with the BFG. Just ~ kill cyberdemon. Made it so much easier, I really don't know why you guys are dicking around with shooting them.

 

Kidding aside, I can't even count the number of times I've been able to two shot a cyberdemon, even with god mode. Maybe 10? Although this map might be good practice, but it seems like I almost always need at least three, if not four. I'm very impressed when people can pull it off consistently. But with RNG the way it is, I'm very amazed that people can do it fifteen times in a row.

The only thing rng dictates is when you get to move in on the cyberdemon... The risk of not getting a pain-state is negligible...

Well, I was more referring to the RNG associated with the BFG and it's tracers not doing enough damage to kill the Cyberdemon in two shots. I just tried it 10 times in Grosse, with God mode on, and it was more reliable than I was expecting, but there were two times where it took three shots to kill it. Which, I've certainly tried the strategy before, but it seems like damn near every time I try to do it on a legitimate run, it takes at least three.

given the way the rng works for the BFG it's virtually impossible to get rolls so low that 2 properly placed bursts won't take down a cyb.. if anything, there may be blockmap shenanigans going on, and even that is something I have a few doubts about...

Yeah, might just need to practice then. Those two times I may not have been right up against it, so maybe a tracer missed, or maybe it was a blockmap issue. Well, I'll have to spend some time practicing the technique I suppose, and read up on the BFG behavior a bit more. I thought I understood it well enough, but maybe not. It's kind of a weird weapon.

Tom19 is 100 times in a row and I warm up with that before playing a hard map for the first time

two shotting cybers is generally very consistent

And I kind of hope @Nine Inch Heelsuploads this to somewhere like idgames or DSDA because it's a good "tool wad" to have.

Spent my ~10 minutes a week (these days) of doing anything hardcore on this. I like completely ignoring positioning and just going for it whenever the cyb starts shooting. (I was not going for 15 myself, but seems like a fun spot to try.)

I'm probably not gonna bother... with any luck, this wad somehow finds its way to the doomwiki page about me (why do I even have one?), and people can grab from there via link or whatever... If I wanted to make a serious map that tests 2-shotting-skills under more interesting circumstances, I'd also put a little more work into it than just this simple copy-paste job....

Don't mean to necro the thread but I was banging my head against the wall doing another TAS and decided to do a TAS run of the map. Got it done in 59 seconds (it can almost certainly be done in less with better TASing): 15cc01x-059.zip
