Wind in Boom format?

El Inferno

Question

How does this feature works? Simply giving a linedef action 224 Move according to line vector does not seem to do anything. Anyway, even if it works somehow, can I make this wind to blow away a cacodemon in a given direction?

1. You need to enable pushers/pullers in the Sector Special to get wind effects to work.

2. Flying monsters (like the Cacodemon) are not affected by wind. However, if you make the sector underwater (using a linedef of type 242), and change the linedef to a scroller type instead of a wind type (type 252, for instance), then it will work. If you go this route, you will not need to worry about step 1 either.

The OP was talking about line type 224 wind effect, not pushers/pullers.

Correct. Bit 9 in the sector special must be set for wind effects as well as pusher/puller Things. I just used the terminology that I think is in most WAD editors when referring to sector special bit 9.
