Doom 3 Multiplayer

Hey, I got Doom 3 and RoE, and I just found out it has working multiplayer. I don't have any mods. Is there anything special I have to do if I want to make a server? Can it just be vanilla? Any deathmatching tricks?

Well, I'm just going to start my own server with the normal "Create Server" tool. No passwords, and no mods, just a 4 player deathmatch in Delta Labs. Also, I have to exit Doom 3 to access other applications.

Edit: I'm done with the server, I'm going to go find one on RoE.

Well, I failed to find anything on Doom 3 Multiplayer, and the only server with players needs me to download binary stuff, which I'm worried about, since I don't know what they mean.
