JustCallMeKaito Posted August 2, 2020 (edited) DOOM II, love it or hate it, is a classic that has been long overdue for an overhaul. I've been teasing a few images for a while now, but I feel I should announce the official start of the project. This is DOOM II: Resurrected, a project that aims to remake and expand upon the original levels and story. The goal is 36 maps, with 12 per episode, each episode having a secret map and a boss map. I'd like to thank Sonny666 for contributing the amazing new logo for the project as well. I'd just like to start off by saying no, this is not another KDIZD. Any new areas strictly follow the theme of the map they are a part of, and detail is not going to get in the way of the player every five seconds. The project will also introduce a few brand new enemies into the mix, as well as tweak a few weapons that would normally be outclassed once you find another. Looking at you, pistol. Currently, this is a one-man project, but I am looking for anyone who does spritework. There is no ETA as to when the project will see daylight, but I will post major updates on this thread as they happen. For smaller updates and discussion, I have started up a Discord server. You can join by clicking here: https://discord.gg/Ycw64WD And now, screenies. RonnieJamesDiner Posted August 2, 2020 Ambitious project! Everything looks beautiful so far. I love how you really leaned into the idea that The Citadel was meant to be a castle, that looks really cool! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Starduster Posted August 2, 2020 I'm definitely gonna follow this so I can play it when it's released. Those screenshots are so pretty! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Those screenshots looks amazing. Tho, I gotta admit I'm not fan of ''wad thread but without the wad.'' Still, best of luck and I hope I can play it someday. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
666shooter Posted August 3, 2020 This looks fantastic so far! Definitely following. Here's hoping for some remixes of those city maps that are much better than the originals. Can't wait to see what sort of "fun" we get up to in Barrels... 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Gothic Posted August 3, 2020 Every time I heard of people remaking the original games, I imagine people just tracing the original layouts and making them look prettier. This however, looks like something really worth checking out. I wish you the best of luck, those maps look so gorgerous. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post

SpaceTrash Posted August 11, 2020 This looks spectacular, I know what my next Doom 2 play through looks like. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
KILLA DIO Posted August 17, 2020 looking forward to the icon of sin, it's going to be really hard to make that fight not totally underwhelming 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Blast98 Posted August 28, 2020 I love this! This is very awesome and well done. Good job! I hope the Icon of Sin is a giant monster version just like the one in the Real Icon of Sin Mod and Doom Eternal. Notice that since ZDoom is much more advanced than DOS, it has a lot less limitations than DOS. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
JustCallMeKaito Posted August 28, 2020 The IoS fight will be very different compared to the original, since the Icon is now a proper enemy that is capable of moving around. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doomperson01 Posted August 28, 2020 This looks awesome. Would love to see a video showcasing the first few levels or something like that (but I imagine you're far away from doing that yet). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
NightFright Posted August 28, 2020 (edited) I am in love with the sky of the first screenshot. In general I also appreciate the completely different approach regarding level design. Looks like an artistic reimagination of the entire game. Citadel and Downtown look a bit Quake-ish, which is very refreshing and unexpected. If all maps will be like those on the screenshots, it might turn out to be great if gameplay is also good. Fingers crossed this ambitious thing gets finished! Would be great to have a playable demo at some point with a couple of maps to see where you are going with this. Edited August 28, 2020 by NightFright 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ENEMY!!! Posted August 28, 2020 (edited) My first thoughts were, "Hmm, another Doom II remake, I'll just have a quick peek out of curiosity", and then my reaction to the screenshots was, "Wow!". I particularly like 3rd and 5th shots for their clever use of the OTEX green metal textures and the dynamic lighting. The first Citadel shot reminds me (in a good way) of Hexen. The reimagining of Downtown also looks impressive. Edited August 28, 2020 by ENEMY!!! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
