Alaux Posted August 13, 2020 (edited) Ramm intends to be a full Doom 2 megawad with 32 maps for limit-removing ports and a fair amount of DeHackEd sorcery. Now follows, the not-so original story: You wake up to a strong shockwave that leaves the facility to ruins. Next thing you know, demons are attacking, and you have to find out where are they coming from to prevent a worldwide invasion. You're not Doomguy in this story, but Crash instead. The project began somewhere around February, 2020, with the idea of making a terrywad, which later derived onto a Cyberdemon encounter featuring Rammstein music (yep, that's where the name came from). There isn't much to show off at the moment, having only a single finished map, two playable but yet unfinished maps and some map ideas scattered around, without mentioning that I started having zero mapping experience. Below are some screenies, and maybe even videos. Map01: Spoiler Map04: Spoiler Map13: Spoiler This sky texture was originally a placeholder, but I learned how to make these kind of skies work, so it may stay! Map15 (never ending development for this one, oh boy): Spoiler Map20: Spoiler Map30 (just a bit): Spoiler Miscellaneous stuff: Spoiler A better view of the protagonist. The Baron replacement: now attacks with Mancubi fireballs. What the menu looks like. Colored difficulty settings. Why not? And here's a list with most changes, so far: Spoiler - Reworked many animations (weapons, monsters, decorations, etc.), added Fullbright where missing. - Chainsaw, Shotgun, Super Shotgun and Chaingun are slightly faster. - Pistol has been replaced with a Glock. Faster firing rate. - Rockets now leave a smoke trail, just like the Revenant Tracer. - Chaingunner's attack is faster, as is the player's Chaingun. - Pinky's attack is slightly faster. - Lost Soul's health has been reduced to 60, charges at you instantly and moves faster. - Cacodemon's fireball is 50% faster. - Hell Knight's attack is slightly faster, and its fireball is as fast as with the -fast parameter. - Baron of Hell was replaced with Bruiser Demon: different sprites, attacks by throwing Mancubus fireballs. - Arachnotron's firing state has been fixed, slightly faster. - Archvile's flame attack is visually different. - Spider Mastermind's firing state has been fixed, slightly faster. - Wolfenstein SS and Commander Keen have been replaced with custom, secret enemies. - Unique Final Boss in Map30. - Added flames, chairs, sparks and special explosion effects. - Changed blood sprites. Blood now forms blood splats, which fade away after 3 minutes. Now, keep this in mind: this is not an AAA, groundbreaking project, this is just me having fun as I work on this. I don't know what'll be of the future of this project, but I sure hope that everything goes well and it eventually gets an official release. Also, I'm definitely not going to make this purely out of my own ideas, that could be a disaster. I want to find the balance between making something that I like and something that everyone else likes, which is why you can give all sorts of opinions on the content, test the maps and even contribute your own content! (Everyone will be credited, I don't mind having a giant credits and thanks to list). Speaking about credits, almost all of the new assets are not of my own, and so, here are the proper credits: Spoiler --- Credits --- Palette: Sabbat Martyr Textures: Cage, plums - IDTEX TEXTURE PACK: Conversion: Samuel Villarreal, Emil Brundage Author: id Software Submitted: Emil Brundage - FINAL DOOM TEXTURES Conversion: MagicWazard Author: id Software, Team TNT Submitted: MagicWazard - NIGHTMARE ANIMATIONS PACK Author: Nightmare Submitted: Tormentor667 - Waterfall textures taken from 32in24-15_tex_v2 - Some textures taken from OTEX. Alaux Posted August 27, 2020 (edited) He-hey! This ain't dead... yet. Progress is simply very slow. Anyways, considering how I haven't done much for the wad these last weeks, I've done plenty of stuff these last days, including a bit of a new map, some sikk electric sparks and a better pistol. Videos showcasing the last two below. Spoiler Quick reminder: this is still limit-removing. Edited August 27, 2020 by Alaux 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
Alaux Posted September 11, 2020 (edited) So, uh, I updated the OP with up-to-date (heh) screenshots and some more misc screenshots, and organized things in a nicer way. While I'm on it, I may as well ask for some opinions (although it seems unlikely for anyone to answer): We all know that demons, on their idle state, only have two frames on loop. While this makes things not look so static, it looks weird in some cases. I was thinking about making them static, looping on a single frame (in other words, not moving at all). What you think? To make it simpler, instead of this Spoiler It would look like this Spoiler Edited September 11, 2020 by Alaux 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
AtticTelephone Posted September 12, 2020 So when is it coming out? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Things are going slow, and ideas are scarce, but as time goes on more will be done... I hope. Community contribution will speed up the process for sure, but my only goal is to finish it, sooner or later. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Alaux Posted October 21, 2020 (edited) Slow doesn't seem to describe just how slow this is going... anyways: I updated the OP with a list of changes, a bit of the story and another misc map screenshot. Hopefully I'll have more time to work on this soon. In the meanwhile, have a listen to what's, in my opinion, the best track in the wad so far: Believe me, it sounds better in-game, LMMS is a bit oof for rendering. Alaux Posted December 31, 2020 Boo! Been a while, hasn't it? I've done a considerable amount of mapping in these months... at least for my standards. Most of the work went into Map30, of which I've included a single screenshot in the OP. I've also added some screenshots for Map04 and Map20. Now, this is somewhat interesting: """Scripted""" explosions that """destroy""" walls: They're a nightmare to do however. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

We're seriously just staring at what we think is a match. It is a match indeed. It's the cover for Rammstein's latest (and nameless) album, to which Ausländer belongs. From my side I could say that the low resolution I used just contributes to the confusion. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
