Getting weather effects to work

Recommended Posts

I recently downloaded the Ash Spawner from here.

I need a spiffy weather effect for a map. While the spawner works on the test map included with the download, it does not work in any of my other maps, and I'm not sure why. Can someone help me figure this one out? I noticed the map format for the test map and mine is different (Zdoom in Hexen vs UDMF). Could that have anything to do with it?

Anyways, thank you all, and God bless!

Hey @obake, I've tested Ash Spawner in both UDMF and Hexen format and it works correctly in both.
I'll ask the same question as @boris already asked. Have you set the arguments properly?

If you're using Ultimate/GZDoom/Doom Builder editor, you must edit AshSpawner's thing arguments.

Those arguments do this:

Spoiler

Argument 1: Number for X and Y dimensions. If you put 64 there it will spawn ashes in 64x64 box.

Argument 2: Number for Z dimension. Similar to first agrument, but it'll take it as a maximum height where it can spawn ashes.

Argument 3: Number for minimum speed.

Argument 4: Number for maximum speed. Arg 3 & 4 are for speed randomization. This will spawn ashes that will fly with random speed taken between those numbers that are set in Arg 3 & 4.

Argument 5: Number for frequency of ash spawning. 0 is for 100% and 255 is for 0%.

Note: Take in consideration that Ash Spawner will spawn ashes into a direction where you set it in editor. Don't forget to set angle correctly in editor too.
