Thats a good concern to have. I think one of the most important aspects we focused on was introducing a few of these new enemies each level, and not trying to crowd the map with too many different types of humanoids as that would just be too overwhelming and dare I say overkill. You could expect to see the usual former human, shotgun guy and chaingunner as usual, and maybe say 1 map introduces the nailborg and smg guy and another introduces the flamezombie and zombie marine for instance. Some of our enemies and sub-bosses are even considered "1-2 timers" as you wont see them as often as you'd think. The time imp, ssg zombie and nailborg commando would be some examples. Our beta testers have given amazing feedback on this concern as well as and we have done great work on balancing these levels with the new enemies and new arsenal along the way.

Thanks for the reply, sorry for no responding sooner. I do like the idea of some of them being bosses that only appear a couple times after as stronger enemies, kind of like some Dark Souls bosses. I'm sure it will all be well and good. I look forward to playing!

how much progress has been made?

Just now seeing this! So we've had some exciting progress made in the last month or so!

We started working on Hell Unleashed Dm and have 5 levels done at the moment, with the goal of 10+

We've converted over our code to work with Zandronum, and even borrowed some resources from R667 such as the Karasawa rifle, Flamethrower and Railgun (Eon Weapons), as well as our nailgun and super nailgun. We've even added our own powerups in such as: Random(Gun), a rune that turns you into a BOH for 15 secs and other fun surprises :)

In terms of Sp, our sprite artist has finished our Mancubus boss sprites. More specifically, you will fight the 4 Manc's on map 7 like usual. Once killed 2 Super Manc's will spawn in, and once those 2 are killed you will fight the Uber Manc.

Stormcatcher has joined forces with us and is currently finishing where I left off in The Crusher.

Our HUD is also pretty much done.

I will of course leave some screenshots here:

I also think this looks great!

@MikeyScoots Are you planning on using all of those enemies and weapons in levels 1-8?

The SNG (Super Nailgun) will only be accesible via a secret on Map's 3 and 6. Some of these enemies are "One-timers" or used for unique sequence and event purposes only. You would never find yourself in a room with 3 timeimps dashing around you and a wall of chaingunners. The bfg won't be found till Map 8 just like in the original Doom 2, all else will be experienced in E1.

Well: it's been over a year since the last notable update on Doom II:Hell Unleashed........so, here are 2 screenshots! I have become marginally involved in this project and I can say the current maps on offer are EPIC! Mike streamed about 4 minutes of play for me a few days ago......and this mod is top-tier work!

At this point:

*The HUD is pretty much nailed down.

*Plenty of exciting weapons included!

*Terrain and other items you'll want to explore and examine just because!

*Several 3D-modeled items with remarkable detail

Remember: the idea here is a TRULY UPDATED version of Doom II.......how it SHOULD HAVE LOOKED! But: instead of a massive pile of levels, with a few minor tweaks......Doom II:Hell Unleashed will be released in several episodes.

If I may ask, what does the money from the patreon go towards?

It's just you don't see tons of doom projects with patreon pages, that's all.

Well.....Mike is the Chief Potentate of this project............so I feel a bit awkward answering for him, but:

1. He has to make sure his pet dragon is supplied with 3 fresh salmon daily, so there's that! Plus: Mike is a bottomless pit when it comes to ale and coffee, so that's an issue unto itself!

2. Sgt_Mark (of BD fame) is exceedingly vocal about how his Patreon $$ serves to help maintain his existence. That general idea applies here (if only in a lofty and optimistic fashion).

3. More important than any of that, let's play with the algebra a bit, and point out what becoming a Patreon supporter gets you!

    At the $1 level:

*Knowledge that Mike's Mom is impressed that he is making ANY money from modding!

*Early access to behind-the-scenes development ideas/concepts (not discussed ANYWHERE else!), including LOADS of in-game screenshots and video clips. Some       of these will ONLY be made available to Patreon supporters.

*Access to the project's Discord server and all appertaining discussions PLUS the ability to assign yourself a role in the game's development process. This includes

submitting level ideas, sprite concepts, and sound clips for consideration.

*A personal Thank You message and shoutout from Mike on the Discord server.

     At the $5 level:

     ----All of the above, plus:

*Access to both Alpha and Beta levels LONG before they see the light of day!

*Submit commentary/suggestions on level designs (which, of course: will be treated seriously!!)

Hope that helps!! Doom II: Hell Unleashed is going to be big!

Well, first: see Numbers 1 and 2 above. Beyond that, contributing developers get a few shekels (a group consisting of a small cluster of talented people thus far). Additionally: 30% of the Imps utilized are members of the Teamsters Union.....and you KNOW they don't play around!
