I'm in a strange position in that after my last computer died my new rig had serious and apparently incurable issues that were only resolved when I got desperate and reformatted the drive with the latest version of Ubuntu. I use Wine to emulate Windows and I can still play with the game mechanics but there are issues with rendering that make GZDoom seem more like Zdoom and make color conversion in SLADE a nightmare. I might just be too ignorant to make this work as of yet but I would like to see versions of these programs (SLADE, GZDoom, DoomBuilder) that work with Ubuntu's underlying architecture. Problem is that the genius saints who gave us these gems have lives of their own and would likely respond to some incentive on the part of the little people who silently admire and love their work. Is there a simpler solution to these woes? Are there enough of us in this position to make this a real issue? If so can we contact these Übermensch directly and crowd source such a project? I'd love to contribute if these are the case. What say you good people of Doom World?
