Among us maps in DooM

Since Among Us is a really popular game right now, i've considered making one or all of the among us maps in Doom 2 format.

Here's one of the most popular maps, The Skeld.

This is the most simple one, Mira HQ.

I've had this idea too, and I as wondering if it's worth it.

If you're talking about just doing the maps, it's doable but I don't think there's a great interest.

If you want to do the whole game, I'm almost sure there's a way to do it using some scripts, but in first person the gameplay will be very different, let alone setting and system so people can talk and vote and stuff. If you want, you could always try to make it a singleplayer map where you have to do tasks to win, I guess.

I was thinking a system where the imposters are simply Scripted marines and so are the Crewmates. I was also thinking of using the difficulty system to determine what type of game you would play. Easy difficulty would be free play, Medium difficulty would be One Imposter, Hard difficulties Three Imposters.

I think that, just recreating them, it's kind of a good idea for a personal project or practice for mapping. In that case, it'd be even better if that transforms into a multiplayer Among Us mod for Doom.

 

If it's "worth it" or not, I guess that depends on you. I can't see much of the Doom/Doomworld forums community loving the idea or playing it at first glance, but hey who knows? Maybe I'm dead wrong. Personally, I think it'd be fun!

This is a good looking recreation! I'd think it's worthy.

the voting system could simply be something like all of the players are teleported into a room (idk it that's possible) via script and then after a ''vote'' they simply kill the player they believe is the impostor

The most difficult part will be the multiplayer side.

But yes, i sense there is a possible way to make this viable.

Doom Among Us sounds good enough.
And i would love to play a first person version of that ;)

It'd be just like "whodunit" with a gimmick. Thankfully, I love gimmicks. If you wanna make this into a full fledged mod, not just some maps, it can be done. I only see two major hurdles. Communication and Programming. With doom's messaging system, you'd probably have to rely on voice chat (something any fun Among Us match requires). Zdaemon has VC but the scripting may prove only useful in Zandro...

I am sure it won't be that hard to make a gamemode about this. As far as I know there were some similar gamemodes designed for DooM. Certianly, you can check them out.

It would have to be be a floor that moves like 16 units.
