Faceman2000 Posted April 24, 2023 I’d love a peak into the alternate universe where PG was part of Final Doom. I really like this mapset. 4 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gothic Posted April 24, 2023 (edited) So what's the status on Perdition's Gate's (and Hell to Pay while we're at it) legality? Is some old guy from WizardWorks still holding the rights on his attic or something? It would make a great addition to the Doom Unity port. According to Joe Wilcox if I remember correctly, WizardWorks had a "standard license" for contracted shovelware works where the rights reverted fully to the authors after a few years. Which would mean that PG&HTP are presumably now the legal property of Wraith Corporation. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
baja blast rd. Posted April 24, 2023 Perdition's Gate map23 has one of my favorite demos. Stroller is a category that disallows running and strafing, so some of the jumps require unconventional tactics to be even possible. 9 Quote Share this post Link to post
Devalaous Posted April 25, 2023 6 hours ago, Gothic said: It would make a great addition to the Doom Unity port. Hell to Pay explodes the Unity Port instantly on loading any map, and Perdition's Gate only runs the first 10 or so maps before everything goes imps up, so they'd likely need to be rebuilt from scratch to be official add-ons, even IF they get the rights. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
hombartaliga Posted April 28, 2023 Hey MtPain27! Can i ask that which was the hardest map you reviewed so far? (other than lunar eclipse and these april fools stuff) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

volleyvalley Posted April 28, 2023 I actually really enjoyed Mackey's E3 levels, mainly because they're bite-sized and kind of fun, if you know where all the secrets are of course :). While yes I agree that they're a bit lazy, they're never boring, dull or easy, MAP24 is a prime example of that; it has unique visuals and fast-paced gameplay which I've come appreciate more and more times I played Perdition's Gate. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

That would be an interesting digression. Edited April 29, 2023 by continuum.mid 5 Quote Share this post Link to post

RichardDS90 Posted April 30, 2023 Has anyone on here ever tried to predict what maps in certain WADs not yet covered that would get Valedictorian, Salutatorian, etc? I get the feeling MAP20 and 21 of CC4 is gonna get that silent start he does on iconic maps. I wouldn't at all be surprised if they get the top grade as well. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
TakenStew22 Posted May 29, 2023 I'm guessing this is the reason we haven't gotten another episode in awhile. Better late than ever. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
MemeMind Posted May 29, 2023 This is the one I have dreaded. I dislike the map I made for Solar Struggle. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Firedust Posted May 29, 2023 Oh yes! I really hope this will incentivise Violentbeetle and Co. to make a sequel to Solar Struggle, because frankly speaking, it's easily one of the best UD megawads I've ever played. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Some of the guys that got A's have been mapping for years. I'm sure even someone like Cannonball has made maps he didn't like in the past. Just try to improve on the things about your map that you did not like and come back stronger. Edited May 30, 2023 by Anarkzie 9 Quote Share this post Link to post
Faceman2000 Posted May 31, 2023 Sometimes I forget how much Mt Pain’s taste in maps differs from mine, and then he says something like “reminiscent of NEIS’ middle section” as a reason a map is bad. I love E2 and E3 of NEIS! His explanation for why he didn’t like a level actually made me want to try it out even more haha. After all, disagreeing is part of the fun. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

MoiraHeart Posted August 21, 2023 Finally, some proper Guardian Angel Loses Their Will appreciation. I've been thinking of an alternate timeline where the Dean reviews AV with the midi pack already out, but this will do! 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
LSC Lasico Posted August 21, 2023 I dunno what that is about this episode in particular, but it honestly feels special to me. It just has that sort of energy thar males it absolutely enthralling to watch. This is, in my opinion, the absolute best DoD episode out of all there is. It also makes me suffer small pp syndrome, but that's another story. 5 Quote Share this post Link to post

Agreed, Plasma is a track that felt so married to Toxic Touch for me, and the fact that track managed to not only live up but surpass it IMO is unbelievable. Love to see it get more attention, an all-timer midi. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
baja blast rd. Posted August 22, 2023 Best episode. The analysis is deep and specific while still being concise and emotionally compelling. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
