GraphicBleeder Posted November 10, 2020 (edited) I apologize if this sounds stupid, but I have a question: Is Freedoom its own set of maps, or is it just Doom maps with Freedoom textures? Edit 2/5/21: Okay guys. I know what Freedoom is now, you can stop answering this now. Edited February 5, 2021 by GraphicBleeder 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Biodegradable Posted November 10, 2020 Freedoom is very much a beast of a different colour. It's basically Doom's weird little brother built by members of the community to create free content utilising id Tech 1. You can read more about it on the Doomwiki if you want greater details. 6 Quote Share this post Link to post
cambreaKer Posted November 10, 2020 it's basically a whole new game 4 Quote Share this post Link to post

I really like the direction Freedoom is going. Episode 1 of Freedoom Phase 2 is an amazing vanilla compatible endeavour. Seriously fun maps! Hope the second and third chapter goes vanilla, too. But some maps seems to have a high amount of details for that. Don't know if there is a possibility to vanillafy them. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
tealdude Posted November 17, 2020 You know how Heretic has new enemies, monsters, textures, new a bunch of stuff? It's still on the doom engine, but it's not just Doom. Freedoom is kinda like Heretic except it's on a midpoint between "different game" where Heretic lies and "100% Doom". 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
ax34 Posted November 17, 2020 (edited) Interesting thing is that you can play Doom mods on top of Freedoom without needing Doom Edited November 17, 2020 by ax34 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Yandere_Doomer Posted February 5, 2021 A Doom clone with its own corresponding weapons, items, and enemies that runs on the Doom engine for free 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
xX_Lol6_Xx Posted February 5, 2021 Actually, it's fully compatible with wads made for TNT and Plutonia. So you can play Revilution and Plutonia 2 with FreeDoom Phase 2 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

So you can play Revilution and Plutonia 2 with FreeDoom Phase 2 I wanted to note that this was in the update log from Freedoom 0.12.0: Quote Final Doom compatibility de-emphasized. Where it creates conflicts with Doom II mods or texture definitions, we prefer the Doom II side of things. Final Doom-specific maps and mods may never look completely right in Freedoom, as a result. So it is compatible with TNT and Plutonia but there's no promise of perfect compatibility and Doom II compatibility is prioritized first. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
xX_Lol6_Xx Posted February 6, 2021 But hey, at least it is compatible 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
