TheMagicMushroomMan Posted November 10, 2020 (edited) Need more info, but this is likely to do with not having write permission. What's your file hierarchy? Edited November 10, 2020 by TheMagicMushroomMan 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

TheMagicMushroomMan Posted November 10, 2020 Nobody can help you unless you provide more info. Mainly your file hierarchy and your .ini location. Try moving GzDoom to another location. Like I said, it's probably got to do with write permissions. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Redneckerz Posted November 11, 2020 New users never gonna learn, is it. OP, provide a screenshot of the map with your .ini file located. Else, do not bother asking for feedback and a solution if you don't want to help us into helping you. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
P41R47 Posted November 11, 2020 (edited) Hey, guys! Easy on the noob, please. We all started as PC noobs without any understanding of what people say at us. When we were 4 or 5 maybe, some still when they had 20 or more. Me, even to these days sometimes :P@The BMFG first of all, if you can, take a screenshot of your GZDoom folder. That would help us helping you. And don't panic when something happends. Maybe its an stupid question, but did you extracted GZDoom from the .zip? If you didn't extract all the files inside the zip onto a new folder, it will not work properly. Edited November 11, 2020 by P41R47 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

One of them should say something like PRT SC. Press it with the folder of GZDoom open. Then boot up paint and pres CTRL+V, it will paste the screenshot on it. Save it somewhere easy to find, and then upload it by just drag and droping on the comment section here. Edited November 11, 2020 by P41R47 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Up of this post there is a explanation of how to take screenshots. Also, @Redneckerz or @TheMagicMushroomMan, if you can, please point him on how to be able to see the file extension. I don't remember where the fuck is that option :/ 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Robot J Posted November 11, 2020 (edited) Something like that happened to me when my pc started up and said the "press any key to stop C: drive repair in 10 seconds (or whatever it says)" because my pc didn't shut down normally. I just pressed my space bar but everything on my pc got factory reset you could say except a few things like steam Edited November 11, 2020 by Robot J 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Satanos Posted November 11, 2020 (edited) Literally made an account just to add this: your settings seem to be tied to save files in gzdoom. For example, if you change your settings on savefile A, but then load back to save file B, save B will be set back to your original settings. I think the only way to have a permanent settings is to set them in the main menu before loading a save (old saves will still use the old settings though). Before anyone asks, yes, the ini file is not set to read only in properties and has write permissions. Edited November 11, 2020 by Satanos 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

This is incorrect, settings in GzDoom are preserved even when switching to a save with different settings than the one you are using, I just tested this to make sure. If your settings are getting changed every time you load a save where you had different settings, you have something else wrong. To quote the Zdoom forums: "Gameplay settings are stored in dmflags and dmflags2 console variables. These CVARs are not saved to .ini file. In order to preserve gameplay settings, you need to enable desired options, check values of the mentioned CVARs, and save them to autoexec.cfg file." Ideally you just use Teamviewer to see whatever the user is doing. 5 hours ago, P41R47 said: Up of this post there is a explanation of how to take screenshots. No version of gzdoom I can download comes with that. (unless you're supposed to just make your own autoexec.cfg file) Edit: You mean the gz-doom(yourname).cfg?
