This thread will be on hold until either:

- @Wavy releases more updates for Doom 32x Delta: Hell on Earth

- SIGIL 2 comes out. (Meaning I'll get to porting)

Reason I haven't been releasing any updates is because I've lost some interest in Hell on Earth as well as working on other projects. I do aim to work on it some time later in the year though, but not now unfortunately.

I will be making a Console Doom tier list soon, and was wondering if I should include hacks in my judgement. (Aka this)

...Yes I know SIGIL 2 will also be for DOOM 2, but at least I won't have to recreate the dickish Plutonia traps on 32x. We'll see, I already gave Romero's permission once he releases it anyway.

i'd be happy if i get at least the final doom maps, that you have optimized for the 32x so i could port them over to gba.

Okay so two things.

 

1. Does anyone have any info on @TheLesha and how he is doing? He hasn't talked to me since January, and now there's the whole situation in Ukraine and shit...

2. No, I'm not porting One Humanity (I will once the full SIGIL 2 comes out of course.)

So, I am almost done with a Final Fantasy 1 ROM hack...After that, I might comr back to this and try to port E5M7 or E5M9...(Depends if I can open the WAD or not)

But I'm definitely coming back for some more 32x goodness.

Remember how I got that free SIGIL Beast Box that came with stickers and stuff? Well, I had put those on my PC, but that thing broke. But I successfully saved the stickers yesterday, so here comes the DOOMputer 2.0! 20220424_170745.jpg?width=800&height=600

Alright so, I have tried opening some of the patched Delta ROMs.

 

E1 - Opens without problems

E2 - Opens without problems (Despite you know, E2M2 existing?)

E3 - Opens without problems

E4 - Opens without problems

E5 - Opens without problems

 

Plutonia - Doesn't open (STONE3 is corrupted or something)

 

I'll be trying to look for some earlier builds of Plutonia through me and Lesha's DMs, but I'm not certain I'll be able to find one that exports. Shame.

Not any big Delta-related news. Well, I have one, and it's that Lesha came back almost a month ago. I know, I'm late to this. Also, I made a new small SNES Doom map if you're interested.

So, finally something new here! First of all I've updated the thread to give Lesha credit (Well, the RHDN release credits him, but I forgot to put it in the main post...whoops.)

Also, I've made a new spreadsheet comparison thingie to compare Delta with other hacks like Resurrection. You can check it out if you want.

A tiny bump, but Roebloz has released an update to episode 4 at the beginning of the month to address some issues, and it's available on the ROMHacking.net release for those interested. He'll also be doing SIGIL 2 when it's released as well, so stay tuned.

I played the original Thy Flesh Consumed hack and it lacked e4m9 and e4m7, exits in e4m6 and the dead simple homage map, no secret exit in e4m2 and also couldn't get 100% kills in e4m5.

Does Delta fix this?

E2M5 crashes everytime i select it from the menu or after completing E2M4.

E1M2 and E1M6 still have the freeze bug.

A teleporter in the secret room with the plasma rifle in E2M4 doesn't work.

Are ''Episodes 1 to 3'' working 100%?; here it is, white screen on the Emulator is just like that! And ''Doom Thy Flesh Consumed'' is running at 100% until Map 6, and the end doesn't open the door, that; getting all the keys! And all Sigil maps are working 100%.

Eu disse que ia fazer uma pequena pausa, mas fiquei tipo "eh não importa". O que tornou o lançamento super rápido foi porque aprendi o que é a ferramenta de substituição no Doom Builder, então fazer mapas foi super fácil. Além disso, como 32x: Delta não tinha um mapa extra, eu fiz o meu, sendo uma versão abreviada de Barrels of Fun! Sem mencionar que os Lordes Infernum, assim como as Ilusões, também estão aqui.

ATUALIZAÇÃO: Acabou de lançar atualizações v1.1 para o episódio 1 e episódio 2 para resolver pequenos problemas. Changelog no leia-me.

ATUALIZAÇÃO ATUALIZAÇÃO: v1.2 foi lançada para o episódio 2. Apenas consertando um pequeno bug de textura em E2M2.

Hey, I'm back! (Still having no news of @TheLeshathough...Kinda worried for him. :/)

So, lemme do my duty and answer some questions.

I personally use Kega Fusion to play Delta, I know it struggles with more accurate emulators? Episode 1 should work perfectly though.

In any case since I lost the OG D32x Delta files on a now boot-looping laptop, the likelihood of me pushing any kind of fixes for it are extremely unlikely.

(Same fate sadly happened to the Deem 3D April Fools thing me and Lesha were planning, along with Plutonia...)

 

So yeah, until SIGIL 2, this project is mostly dead, and even then, I'm not sure if I will go ahead and do it. But if you have any technical questions, I'm more than happy to answer them for you.

The door would be, the exit door, which would be to move on to the next map, where there is a face next to the door.

While the information above isnt WRONG, I did change a couple of things.

  • The hack is still bringing PC maps back to 32x with all the textures and only fixing things so that it runs, but also so that it has a decent framerate! It's important!
  • The hack will have ALL 3 Episodes (I keep my stance on Episode 4) and they WILL have to be split into different files sadly.
  • There will not be Spider Masterminds, Spectres or Cyberdemons.

Oh and for those that need instructions on how to patch, obtain a JU ROM of Doom 32x (I got mine on romhustler, but not sharing any piracy links, you can find it yourself) then using any xdelta patcher (You can find one on Google easily) patch the ROM with the uh...patch.

 

IMPORTANT FEATURES

-Maps 09-15 (And 23) are all placeholders since there wouldnt be enough room for Episodes 2 and 3. These maps are no longer selectable.

-The main menu level select goes from 0 to 8. (See info below for MAP00)

-Episode 2 Bug: Due to the demo using the automap, if you start the game when the demo is in the automap, you won't be able to run, shoot or activate doors. Simply activate your minimap and deactivate it to fix this.

-Monster infighting is coming back.

-Oh yes, MAP00. Because I like making Doom maps and I wanted to include a bonus, every Level 0 will have a bonus map made by me that offer a bigger challenge than any maps in the Episode with rewards that then allow you to quickstart through said Episode.

  • Episode 1 MAP00: Hectic 32x. This Doom 64-inspired level features a lot of tricks and traps, with huge rewards and huge challenges. When getting out (If you get out that is) you will AT LEAST have a Shotgun and a Rocket Launcher. But if you solve all the secret puzzles, you could also get out with a Plasma Rifle and a Soulsphere. Happy hunting!
  • Episode 2 MAP00: The 32x Domain.  This Plutonia and Doom 2 inspired level features a lot of monster closets. It's a short map but tough (Also a bit laggy outside) and it will definitely pack a bigger punch than whatever Episode 1's secret map was. You can exit with a Rocket Launcher and a Soul Sphere. Cancelled due to me losing the map.
  • Episode 3 MAP00: Baphomet's Demesne. Port of John Romero's SI6IL E5M1. Straightforward.

Doom 32x: Delta - Complete Edition

Well, considering we have finished Episode 1-3, its natural to want to port more, no? Well in this addendum, I will be revisiting my existing port of Episode 4 to bring it more on par with the quality of this ROM hack, and will be porting none other than SIGIL. (Do not worry, I have gotten approval from @Romero to do this) I will also be making a parody Episode to parody early FPS games and stupid stuff, as well as the homebrew GBC port. Once finished, I will either simply update the existing ROMhacking.net page to reflect on the changes or make a brand new addendum called Complete Edition.

I ended up just adding those episodes to the main RHDN release.

 

Not convinced yet? Here is a handful spreadsheet to compare it to other hacks like Vic's Doom 32x Resurrection, to let you choose the perfect ROM hack.

I've updated the main post to make it a bit cleaner now, so it should be readable. In all seriousness, I'm not sure if I'll do SIGIL 2, but it would be an interesting thing to do for sure. I'll have to see with @Wavy if they feel like doing it too.
