Doom 32X fix

Hello, guys.

So, I have decided to fix the infamous Sega 32X port of Doom.

Here is the list of things that I have improved:

1) New music order (Refinery plays Intermission, DUNDUNDUN sound when the game starts, the credits play Victory theme)

2) Font is now red and not pink

3) A (somewhat) improved E1M1 theme.

5) Health and armor bonuses now give 1 hp instead of 2, like in the PC version

Now, for the things that I plan to do:

1) Improve all (or most) of the music tracks

2) Import maps from the PC version (maybe even textures if it's possible)

3) Fix several things (like skullkeys displaying, I believe that it is possible)

4) Fix that damn teleport sound

5) Something else, probably (maybe, a better palette for Doomguy face?)

Here is my video:

Please note that this is NOT A FINAL VERSION! Also, please forgive my framerate, as my computer is very-very old and it just can't handle Fusion and Bandicam at the same time.

I will upload a patch after I do a few more things.

P.S. If someone has already fixed 32X Doom, then please, tell me about it (at least I didn't find it)

You could embed the video on your thread, so that people don't have to manually open it. Otherwise, this doesn't seem too shabby. I love seeing 32X port improvement attempts, and I hope yours can be one of the best out there.

Also kind of curious as to why you didn't just use Kega Fusion's built-in ability to dump to an AVI, and decided you needed to use Bandicam to record.

It's as simple as Video -> Log AVI File...

Even though now this merged with my project, Fusion's built-in AVI recorder usually lags some computers so. There.

Not sure how that lags it any more or less than Bandicam. Software encoding is software encoding, and they both predate GPU encoders.

My guess is that it's that Fusion AVIs are generally lossless - the codec is intended to be intermediary while you transcode it to something else. The tradeoff is that it's big but supposed to be fast.

Bandicam will encode to smaller video files, but it will also do that crunching and calculation as you record. The result is a smaller file, but it's doing a lot more processing during the recording that will also kill your framerate.

I do like when people do improvements to the Console Doom games. But I'll advice to check this thread also:

I think you could cooperate with @Roebloz

Dexiaz. He IS cooperating with me now. How do you think I did all that red text stuff?

I am not a psychic. You didn't mentioned Lesha anywhere, so how the hell I must do know this information?

BTW, in theory, the red text you can do by yourself without any help, so this is also not an argument here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
