Favorite Pickup Sounds in Video Games?

Commander Keen’s item sound effects are absolute ear porn. the gem pickup sound is somehow squishier and less nice and clean sounding in DOSBox then when I play it on my older PCs but everything else is perfect. Accented nicely by the shiny little numbers that appear too. Game design at its best.

Hexen’s are good too, so good that at one point I replaced all the default Windows sounds with Hexen ones.

I remember liking the health pickup sounds from Doom 3: BFG Edition. Tried to rip them off at one point to use in my Blood-inspired mod (Blood: Dead on Arrival), but couldn't really find the sound files.

It's not just somewhere in the back of my brain after 25+ years, it damn well plays whenever anyone says, "rocket", "launch", "lounge" or "lawnchair":

And from modern games, Puppet Combo's incredibly scuffed farty pickup sound is oddly comforting given all the... everything going on around the player characters:

that one that sounds like Maria from Ricky Martin, let me think what it was

EDIT: oh yeah I remembered. The food pickup sound from Wolfenstein3D (sound card, not pc speaker)

people have been upvoting this recently, and I feel I owe an explanation.

Here's the in-depth (?) analysis of how the wolf3d sfx sounded in my mind like a ricky martin song:

(a. The original sfx, b. The sfx modified to sound like the melody in the song, c. The segment of the actual song)

No I don't listen to this kind of music but this was very popular in the 90s and clearly lingered in my head

The pickup sounds from Treasures of The Deep are super nostalgic and most memorable for me. There's a separate sound for almost everything, be it treasure, ammo, health, air etc.

Fantastic thread. Love it when creators of GZDoom wads replace / add sounds. Not that there's anything wrong with the og doom sounds ofc, but it's these little things that help enhance player experience :)
