Sentinels and Humans

Even though I would've preferred it just to be Heaven-Humans-Hell, they added a 4th side in the story.

I haven't read so much about Sentinels around here and I have many questions:

-What's their relation with The Father? If there is any. I know that they come from the action of Wraiths, but are those creatures as powerful as The Father?

-Why do they look so similar to us? Is it implied that we are descendants of them in Doom story? If so, there could be a contradiction, because it is said on the Seraphs codex that The Father created the "Earthy realms", which I suppose it means that human race was created by The Father.

-How did Sentinels get into Mars? Did they reach Earth from there?

I don't remember if it is the case in the lore, but I really hope that humans aren't descended from the Argenta or anything like that. It's been proven beyond all reasonable doubt by now that humans evolved on Earth from earlier life forms, that were also entirely native to the planet. If we were transplanted from somewhere else, it would be blindingly obvious to anyone with the ability to undertake more than a cursory study of the human genome.

It's one of those tropes that I just have to ignore if it turns up in any media I enjoy. I like the way they did it in Stargate SG-1, in which humans were transplanted from Earth to other planets by the Goa'uld. But then they had to go and ruin it by having Earth humans descended from humanoid Ancients.

Unfortunately, Doom 3 already suggested that humans were descended from the Martian civilization. Which, if the fan theories are right, is the Argenta faction that set up Hebeth.

The Father and Davoth have a human like shape in the codex images. I think the Father made Argenta and humans look like him.

Did they? Don't remember that at all.

Honeslty, humans should just be Earthlings and that they aren't as special of a species as they would assume.

Some horror in fiction goes with how humans are meaningless compared to other species beyong comprehension.

Like, this background of the source of humanity feels like opening something "too big", even if it's not as bad as "demons were aliens all along".

They are not related to the Father or to Urdak in any way. Even in the Lamentations of the Seraphs, there's no mention of the Wraiths, and the Lamentations are basically Doom Eternal's equivalent to the Book of Genesis.

My guess is that the Wraiths are inter-dimensional or inter-universal beings that probably originate from a realm or plane of existence not created by the Father, and they may be servants to a higher power who dwarfs even the Father's own. Based on their appearance and the fact that they seem to have no sapience and all they did was just roam around Argent D'Nur and empowered the fauna of the planet with their magic, they may just be purely neutral beings that just do what they do, and if we go with the multiversal theory, they may tie in with the Cthullian Gods of the Quake Universe

I dunno. The Wraiths could be linked to the Maykrs... there are some physical similarities. The tentacled bottoms for instance. Comparing images of the two species, maybe the Maykrs weren’t the first species created by Vega.. instead it was the wraiths who either evolved into the Maykrs or were used as a base for later

Still, the fact that the Wraiths go unmentioned in any Makyr texts, and are only mentioned in Sentinel ones seems to indicate that they never encountered each other. It's possible that the Wraiths are fallen Maykrs, and thus go unmentioned in Makyr society, or are the rebellious Seraphs that the Father failed to punish. But insofar as I'm concerned, until the writers address this, my theory that the Wraiths are more connected to the Cuthulian beings from Quake still stands

Speaking of the Sentinels, was it stated how many of them are even left?

Because i'm pretty sure they're all aware they're the last remaining members of the Argenta race and there's nothing to fix their upcoming end.

I can't help but think of the references to other gods the Father has created.  Perhaps the Wraiths were an experiment to see how well humans would do with more direct intervention.  It would fit in with the narrative that the Father wanted to aid his creations, but, for instance, when he created the Dark One, his lust for power corrupted his whole domain.  The Wraiths seemed to be a good compromise, giving the Sentinels the strength to be a mighty civilization, but not leading to corruption, until the Maykr stumbled upon them of course.

And also, is it just me or are Sentinels much taller than humans?

I ask because it seems like the Slayer easily towers over normal humans whereas he actually seems to be shorter than characters like The Betrayer and is around the same height as the Sentinels loyal to the Khan Maykr.

That was my first thought too, the fact they were literal dragon slayers before the Slayer came makes me think they're not human and a bit beyond in physical capabilities.

They are theorized, however to be the ancestors of Humans, at least in the Earth where their ruins are located. It's basically a little tidbit taken from Doom 3, specifically the log which claimed that humans descended from the Martian Civilization. Then again, there's Hebeth, so it's more likely that Doom 3, or elements of it happened in the current Doom Universe
