Wadmodder Shalton Posted January 27, 2021 With GZDOOMs High Quality Resize multiplier mentioning what more video memory is needed, I wonder if the more video memory requirements for 2x (4 Times), 3x (9 Times), 4x (16 Times), 5x (25 Times) & 6x (36 Times) was never even implemented in any consumer Video Card devices, to which it suffered the same fate with AGP 3.0 & 3.5 with the lack of 0.8 volts in motherboards. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Edward850 Posted January 27, 2021 Video memory has been something that exists in video cards, since there's been video cards. That dialogue is telling you how much more memory it'd require than usual for the high quality resize option you've picked. So if your textures take up 100MB normally, with that resize mode they will now take up 3600MB, or 3.51GB. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Nope, i3 and i5 and i7 etc are just the line of the processor. i3 is cheaper than i5 which is cheaper than i5, so on. But every new generation has a new release of i3, i5, i7 etc. Anyway, this is my OpenGL status. It's also a decade old, yet it supports newer OpenGL. And it still sucks. ╭─gustavo6046@gustavo6046-manjaro ~ ╰─$ glxinfo -B # integrated Intel graphics name of display: :0.0 display: :0 screen: 0 direct rendering: Yes Extended renderer info (GLX_MESA_query_renderer): Vendor: Intel Open Source Technology Center (0x8086) Device: Mesa DRI Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 (SNB GT2) (0x126) Version: 20.3.3 Accelerated: yes Video memory: 1536MB Unified memory: yes Preferred profile: core (0x1) Max core profile version: 3.3 Max compat profile version: 3.0 Max GLES1 profile version: 1.1 Max GLES[23] profile version: 3.0 OpenGL vendor string: Intel Open Source Technology Center OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 (SNB GT2) OpenGL core profile version string: 3.3 (Core Profile) Mesa 20.3.3 OpenGL core profile shading language version string: 3.30 OpenGL core profile context flags: (none) OpenGL core profile profile mask: core profile OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 20.3.3 OpenGL shading language version string: 1.30 OpenGL context flags: (none) OpenGL ES profile version string: OpenGL ES 3.0 Mesa 20.3.3 OpenGL ES profile shading language version string: OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.00 ╭─gustavo6046@gustavo6046-manjaro ~ ╰─$ DRI_PRIME=1 glxinfo -B # dedicated Nvidia graphics name of display: :0.0 display: :0 screen: 0 direct rendering: Yes Extended renderer info (GLX_MESA_query_renderer): Vendor: nouveau (0x10de) Device: NVC1 (0xdf4) Version: 20.3.3 Accelerated: yes Video memory: 1023MB Unified memory: no Preferred profile: core (0x1) Max core profile version: 4.3 Max compat profile version: 4.3 Max GLES1 profile version: 1.1 Max GLES[23] profile version: 3.1 OpenGL vendor string: nouveau OpenGL renderer string: NVC1 OpenGL core profile version string: 4.3 (Core Profile) Mesa 20.3.3 OpenGL core profile shading language version string: 4.30 OpenGL core profile context flags: (none) OpenGL core profile profile mask: core profile OpenGL version string: 4.3 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 20.3.3 OpenGL shading language version string: 4.30 OpenGL context flags: (none) OpenGL profile mask: compatibility profile OpenGL ES profile version string: OpenGL ES 3.1 Mesa 20.3.3 OpenGL ES profile shading language version string: OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.10 Look, it might even be good for you, but it's hardly enough for a lot of things I would like to do, like video recording (then again OBS was made with streaming in mind, so it tries to encode in real time, which is retarded). I don't know if it's because I live in the third world, or if I'm juts setting higher expectations than usual anyway. Edited January 27, 2021 by Gustavo6046 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
siteod Posted January 27, 2021 (edited) What's the use of 6x xBRZ if you have regular, blur everything out trilinear on anyways lol Edited January 27, 2021 by siteod 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Kore Posted January 28, 2021 Trilinear doesn't blur though. It interpolates. The effect is lessened when the texture is bigger. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
omx32x Posted February 24, 2021 sorry if i am too late and if someone already offered this solution to you i didnt read the replies if you really want to use it then you can bypass opengl limitations by using the software mode provided by mesa3d (i can even run gzdoom on my machine with it) though keep in mind that it is using software to render so it will be slow and higher resolutions arent recomended if you are having problems with crashes it may be because of the direct3d so you may want to disable at least temporarely. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Don't feel like you always have to use the latest versions of anything, they often introduce higher system requirements for no real reason in my opinion. Hell I still use GZDoom 2.2.0! I use doombuilder and ppl stop and stare at me 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
