ABSTERGO.WAD (Single map)

Hello everyone!

The year is coming to an end, and i was suposed to release my project (Supercharge Final Scourge - Catharsis), but since i did not managed yet to do so, i did a little map on the last 3 days...just for fun.

 

Hope to have some feedback from all of you, i tested myself only. Like i said, some feedback and video recordings (@Clippy @Biodegradable and who ever wants to do it!) are always welcome.

 

Hope you have some fun! A Merry Xmas to everyone and lets hope that next year will be better than this shitty one! Cheers!

I don't know what to do after finding rocket launcher. So I had to give up.

 

Releasing more and more monsters into the same environment is a good idea but progression is not very clear. Dropping crusher on my head without warning was unnecessary. The sky outside is a bit too low, door is way too obviously retracting into nothingness.

You guys are not exploring every little "hole" in the map...now thats a clue...

And i can asure there is enough ammo on the map...sure..can be tight...but there is...(even one of the secrets gives ammo).

I'm very interested in this map 

 

Sounds right up my alley I want to play the low ammo version and see what happens haha 

 

I love scavenging and finding things in maps

I also got lost but that's OK because I'm always lost

 

After getting all the monsters I had enough ammo at the end that I sold it to a pawn shop and made a lot of $$$

 

This was good fun, felt more classic doom 2 like

@Clippy absolutely enjoyed watching you playing this. When you entered the tunnel to get the Blue Armor it was sinalized SECRET...you just missed it. But yeah i made this map so the player could choose diferent paths...and actually you choosed a diferent one of mine, so i am very pleased that it works!! Great Job man...thanks alot for the video!

No problem I had a lot of fun

 

Yeah somehow I missed that secret notification and I was expecting the square that the blue armor was on to be the actual secret space 

 

Also I was quite conservative after hearing about low ammo so I did have fun punching a lot of things

 

The progression was a little bit confusing though. when I started the process to get the blue key I thought for sure I was starting a secret rather than the actual intended progression because I think that's very easy to miss

 

Anyway I think an overabundance of playing Doom during the pandemic has allowed me to figure out how to progress despite the path being sometimes tricky and sometimes hard to spot

Pretty standard fare, though it can get confusing at times, it reminded me of late 1990s maps. The insta-kill crushers near start are pure BS though, if the player charges into the room, they have no chance to back up in time unless they know about the danger.

A slick map filled with nasty traps and somewhat cryptic progression. Definitely an Austinado map hehe. Honestly, I think the progression was the biggest foe with this one as one of the hidden buttons kept me lost for a good while. I had eventually had to skim through Clippy's playthrough to figure out where I was supposed to go. Besides that little hiccup though, this is a pretty good map for just three days, fam. No doubt about ya, Austin, you how to make a damn good Doom map. ;^)

Thanks alot for the feedback! Yes...maybe too harsh with the insta-kill crushers...i gave some space between the crushers and the Doors but, i guessed the instict of the player would be to rush in.

@Biodegradable thanks alot for the video! Alot of people rush in into the maps (i do it as well) and sometimes little things, like that shooting eye, are easy to miss in a map. Im glad you enjoyed the map! Im hopping to release my project as soon as possible in the near future! Again, loved the video and feedback!

Quite a hectic map! I had a lot of fun, and despite the somehow cryptick progression, the layout and set pieces were good.

The Plasma/berserker area its very fun to tackle, aswell as the outdoor area, nothing too rough but the enemy placement was on point.

I couldnt figure out the 1st secret, that one at start with some goodies on a platform, but had all the kills.

Good one!

I agree with pretty much everything that's been said above. I struggled on that last section haha. Pretty minor thing but not sure why the doors at the start don't open until they're fully closed (S1 doors), I tend to find that flexible open close doors (D1 doors) preserve the flow of combat better.

I do like the secrets of this map, funny that I found two of them whilst trying to find the core progression lol.

OK so I was curious how fast this could be beat. I tried a bunch of attempts but there is so much at the end I decided to fake it to make it

 

Here is my edited speedrun (first time I attempted such a thing), the raw unedited footage is also linked in the Youtube description. So many things can go wrong at the end haha

 

I had fun trying this
