I have merged all my sc55 sfzs into one soundfont and all samples are 44.1k.
The sf2 is not final (in progress) because none of the samples have established loops.
But it can still be test playing many midi songs.

The soundfont is too big, you can use the configuration of the fluidsynth:
set synth.dynamic-sample-loading 1

This is a really nice sounding SC-55 soundfont. It's a shame it's so large, but it sounds damn good!

I made a bit of a quick-fix update for this soundfont: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pLyodRR5NKh-wric9ntho72HfNm3wjZz/view?usp=sharing

I am a bit slow, so I only saw this now. Can you elaborate on what exactly you have changed compared to Trevor's original release? I gotta say it sounds a lot better (I am comparing this against the SC-55 recordings from the Doom Unity release).

The S-YXG50 is an excellent alternative and doesn't cost a cent.

The S-YXG50 is a masterpiece of MIDI Softsynths, is a real beast. Sadly, in order to hear his true potential you need to use midis that are in XG format, otherwise will sound just slighty better than default MS GM.

Also there exist the S-YXG2006LE, a modern version with a much Higher quality sound (Has a wavetable of 11mb!), but its XGLite only and doens't have UI (but not necessary if you only use it as Playback device heh)

I just removed unnecessary boost of reverb and chorus, plus added some gain to instruments.

I see, so you didn't replace or significantly modify any actual instruments. Also explains why filesize basically remained the same.

But yeah, the modifications do make a difference. Some instruments still deviate from the original SC-55 sound, but in general this should be close enough to pass as a very good soundfont from Doom, ROTT, Duke3D or Descent (checked those songs with it).

Sorry for bumping this old thread, but is it safe to assume that this is the most accurarate SC-55 soundfont now?
