For ye knights of Speed of ye Pineapple Under the Sea hath created yet another bountiful megaWAD secreted with many hidden items for thoust've to explore and gather as ye Crash thee Castles Clandestine! WAD File: Clandestine Castle Crashing - idgames Port: GZDoom - Jumping/Crouching enabled on select maps - Freelook Optional - Pistol Start enforced. IWAD: DOOM2 - Map01-22 Resources: Compiled in wad file. Credits attached. Comments: MegaWAD created as the fifth edition of the PUSS series. Maps are ordered in chronology of submission. Rules/gimmicks mappers followed are in the original post (SEE BELOW). Included with ye WAD is a beautiful reflection of thouself created by @Death Bear! Everyone, geteth ye caliages and puttees on, forsooth, thine time of mapping ist’ve uponeth us! Castles are a wonderful theme of which to create thy map, but my dear mapper, but a simple castle must be not quite interesting to challenge thyself, no? Rightly so, for I have got something very special in store for thee mapper folk. Even now, as you gaze upon this very scroll of text I am sowing the seeds for ye big ol’ gimmick of the month. Thine answer is right under thee nose. Secrets folks. This event is all about secrets. Ye haveth eight hours to spend upon thine creation! Thou must maketh a map Castle! We’ll be using GOHTICTEX to really drive home the castle feels. Maps can be linear/non-linear. Although, I would recommend the latter. Thine map must haveth a quantity of secrets that I hereby declare to be no less than the number TEN! These have to be earned secrets. No mandatory secret sectors on the exit staircase. Your secrets must be found and earned. The more expansive and incidental, the greater. Even better, there is no maximum to how many secrets you hide in the map. Either way, every secret must be able to be found. But that doesn’t mean they need to be easy to find. Some further tips: Make sure to get creative with your secrets. A secret powersphere behind a false wall is okay, but a secret passageway within the castle walls that takes you to a secret area full of goodies (and a fight) is much better. Thine musn’t secrete thoust’ve progression! The secrets of your map MUST be non-mandatory. Don’t hide your exit key behind an arch-vile jump into a fake wall in a secret slaughter arena. Thou must useth DOOM2 Come one come all! All of thoust’ve mapping formats are welcome to ye submission page. As long as your map can run in a final comiplation WAD in GZDoom, we will accept it! Maps will be due either to this thread or to my discord server by Janurary 23rd. Bug fixes will be due the 26th. The end of the month will see a wad compiled with each qualifying map ordered in chronology of submission. Your mapping time can be nonconsecutive. Your timer will only go down when you are mapping, scripting or playtesting Speedmaps will be under the honor rule. Neither you nor I can prove if a map went over the time limit or not, but one can tell what is and is not a speedmap. If you cheat, people will notice. Any time in Slade used to give a custom sky, midi, etc. is outside of your mapping time. I would recommend spending some time looking over the texture pack before you begin mapping, so that you don’t waste time scrolling. Difficulty Settings: Easy, Medium and Hard. Build Time: 5h08m13s62ms Comments: An interesting challenge, the texture pack was hard to get used but I decided on a colour palette and worked from there. The map can be completed without secrets albeit in a tedious manner. UV-MAX is a lot more engaging and harder way to play this map. I have tried to spot all sequence breaks but I am sure I have missed something! I'll keep the spare three hours in my back pocket to fix anything that arises... The sky is 512x256 so I had to enter it on the texture table to make it fit properly. This means that you have to load GOTHIC-TX after the map or otherwise some textures mess up.
