Heretic E1M6 w/o Wings of Wrath?

A while ago, I played a Doom port of Heretic levels and in E1M6, I could get to the items on the edge of the stained glass windows in the church hall area near the beginning without using a Wings of Wrath item; somehow, the sectors right next to each of the windows would start rising, allowing me to reach the items.

 

Can you actually do that in vanilla Heretic?

No. The only way to get them in Heretic is using Wings of Wrath.

 

(in ports allowing jumping, you can reach them by jumping, but that's illegal in vanilla Heretic)
