What do the different like / reaction buttons mean?

Recommended Posts

So, there is the supercharge, megasphere, invulnerability, and partial invis
But they're all labeled as "like", and I only see people using the supercharge.
What do the other reactions mean? Are they special?

They only mean as much as you want them to. I kind of have my own system for using each of the different ones, but it's more or less arbitrary. But if I give something a megasphere it usually means that it's a great post, invulnerability sphere means it's a perfect and undeniable statement or fact, soul sphere is just generally funny or enjoyable, and I generally just leave the invisibility sphere up in the air, I don't use it often since I don't really like the powerup to begin with.

But in the end, it doesn't matter. They all mean like, and it's entirely up to the user to associate any value to them.

They mean something only if you assign them special meaning.

Otherwise, the only difference between them is stylistic.

Soulsphere means “I like this post”

Megasphere means “I agree with what you’re saying but I’d really appreciate it if you made me a sandwich”

Invuln means “My monitor is black and white, but I like the cut of your jib either way”

Invisibility means “I can’t see you, please help”

Hope this has cleared things up

I'd prefer a Rueben if you don't mind, with corned beef. None of that pastrami bs. And don't skimp on the sauerkraut.

For me they all mean a like, for one reason or another.  If anyone has a rule for using them one way or the other it's so subjective the recipient can't possibly know what the intention was.

Soulsphere: Hey, I like this, very nice

Megasphere: Damn boi, amazing

Invul: Hell yeah baby this is BADASS

Invisibility: What an interesting content

That was my first impression tbh but now I always choose the same one (find out! ;) ) Lol they all are good things and same feeling of Approval ♡

Ah shit Doomkid, what kind of sandwich do you want? I've got ham, turkey, or pbj available. But it's strawberry jam, not that grape crap that seems to be so popular on pbj's.

Oh, I’ll take the PBJ, especially since I know you’re using strawberry jam rather than that grape abomination.

I generally use the soul sphere when I like something I've read or when I've gotten good advice from someone here. Also makes sense cause a lot of "like" buttons on social media tend to be blue or turn blue (Facebook, YouTube, etc). I don't really use any of the other ones.

I always assumed you were a man of fine taste. Please allow six to eight weeks for delivery.

For me it's: soulsphere = i like your funny words.

invisibility = i like this enough

invulnerability = i love this post.

megasphere = this is relatable sometimes.

Naturally this isn't what im going for all the time, but i usually use this system whenever i drink too much.

For me:

Supercharge - good post

Megasphere - great post

Invulnerability - funny post

Invisibility - well spotted

I always use Invisosphere cos it looks cool, which is ironic since I find the actual powerup in-game to be utterly useless :^P At the end of the day, it doesn't mean anything more. They're just there for fun.

I usually do the invisibility sphere if I like the post but don't reply to it.

Otherwise the other higher ranking spheres are considered.

Do the four spheres, from which you choose when liking a post, represent each a different meaning or value? Or is it just for visual variety?

To me each one represents a different level of smashing that like button.

I would think so, too. My ranking would be:

Blue (100% health) = normal like

Brown (100% health/armor) = strong like

Red (Invisible) = special 'get outta here' like

Green (Invulnerability) = epic 'untoppable' like

But the megasphere is the ultimate like button, reserved for ultimate users!

Do you mean, it should only be used by ultimate users? Or you would use it only to like posts of ultimate users? That raises the question, what makes a user an ultimate user?

Linguica added them on a whim, and I remember the discord discussion at the time was "it'll be funny because there's four different reacts that all mean the exact same thing and people can just pick whichever one they feel like." However, trying to get a bunch of gamers to not create a logical system of categorization for a set of symbols is like trying to stop the tides, and people have had many discussions trying to decide what they mean. It's a little disheartening seeing a good joke fail so completely, but I definitely understand why it doesn't work as intended.
