Welcome IMPERFECT HATRED, a 27 map megaWAD created in honor of the original speedmap! I don't think it's much of a guess what that map is. WAD File: Imperfect Hatred - idgames Port: Limit Removing Compatible - Tested primarily in PRBoom + and GZDoom IWAD: DOOM2 - Map01-27 Resources: cc4. Compiled in wad file. Credits attached. Comments: MegaWAD created as the sixth edition of the PUSS series. Maps are ordered in chronology of submission. Rules/gimmicks mappers followed are in the original post (SEE BELOW). Spoiler ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~THY MAP CONSUMED~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Greetings and Salutations! Welcome to the sixth edition of The Pineapple Under the Sea Speedmapping series. Love is in the air this month, and you know what I love? E4M2 baby. That’s right, I have Perfect Admiration for Perfect Hatred. It is (arguably) the best IWAD level in the Ultimate Doom, and if you're a bold opinionated snob like me, the best level in the doom franchise. Legend has it that Perfect Hatred was created by John Romero in 6 hours, starting at midnight and finishing in 6 in the morning, making it the first speedmap created for doom. Being that we are all mappers of high-taste, I think it’s reasonable that we speedmap to honor the progenitor of speedmaps itself. - Your map must be completed in 6 hours maximum. - Each map must, in some way resemble E4M2 of the Ultimate Doom in both gameplay and in visuals. Your resemblance can be as loose or as tight as you want. You are not beholden to making a wood base map. - Your map must have TWO (or more) of the following: A Cyberdemon Turret guarding a secret BFG A hot start with a caco swarm A circular room with barons of hell on the perimeter. A rocky cavern beset with lost souls and spectres/pinkies A central platforming section connecting multiple areas. A dangerous damaging floor central to the whole map only escapable by running up damaging stairs to the start. DOOM 1 Monster Roster and No Super Shotgun A large secret area, accessed where the secret exit would have been. Maps must be in Doom 2 Vanilla Format. Don’t beholden yourself to vanilla limits, we will map under limit-removing. You read right. Doom 2. Although it has an entirely different sandbox, I think that the expanded roster of monsters will allow for more variety with the gameplay and structure of maps. As per the rules, you can limit yourself to using the DOOM 1 monsters/weapons as one of your two required gimmicks. To spice things up, we will be using cc4.tex to make our maps look extra special. Your wickedly maps will be due either to this thread or to my discord server by February 24th 11:59 EST! A date before the end of the month will see a wad compiled with each qualifying map ordered in chronology of submission. Your mapping time can be nonconsecutive. Your timer will only go down when you are mapping, scripting or playtesting Speedmaps will be under the honor rule. Neither you nor I can prove if a map went over the time limit or not, but one can kind of see what is and is not a speedmap. If you cheat, people will notice. Any time in Slade used to give a custom sky, midi, etc. is outside of your mapping time. I would recommend spending some time looking over the texture pack before you begin mapping, so that you don’t waste time scrolling. We aren't working with the vanilla limits however. Therefore you need not worry about visplane overflows and other such limitations. Could you change the map format to Doom 2 (doom) please? Also, for the gimmicks, you choose 2 from the list. So for example, the gimmicks used could be a Cyberdemon Turret and a Hot Start OR a Cacoswarm and a Rocky Cavern. Comments: I had big plans for this map that I obviously didn't have time for. Needs a lot more detail and several areas got truncated pretty hard due to the time limit. I'm not great at Doom so difficulty balancing might be off. Also I accidentally started in Boom then switched to Doom 2, so hopefully nothing is broken. Visually it's a pretty loose resemblance, but gameplay-wise I used 6/8 gimmicks, so hopefully that makes up for it. LordEntr0py Posted February 5, 2021 Started The Hate Flow as a speedmap, but wasn't so happy with it, so I've decided to make it as a non-speedmap homage to Perfect Hatred. It's had 4 hours' work so far and I estimate it wants at least another 10.
