Yet another "Hello" from a newish player

Recommended Posts

Greetings everyone! I recently got back into Doom after playing through most of Freedoom. I beat the four commercial IWADs, as well as Sigil and the Japanese Community Project (currently my favorite). I'm not great at Doom - I still have trouble playing most maps on UV or without saves - but hopefully I'll get better with time.

I like making music, and I'd love to contribute some MIDIs to a project, but I don't think any of my work can stack up to most of the other people making music for Doom WADs. That said, I seem to judge my work more harshly than others, so I might post a few MIDIs to the Creative Works forum when/if I make more.

In the meantime, I'm probably going to lurk around and look for some fun and interesting WADs to play. I've heard great things about the Doom community, and I'm sure I'll enjoy my time here.

Hello and welcome to the Doom Community :)

As for mapping, there are quite some map editors available, like GZDoomBuilder. I haven't tried GZDoomBuilder yet but I have made a lot of maps with doom builder 2. Anyway, have fun and enjoy your stay :)

Welcome @northivanastan!. This seems to the day for new members... I joined about a year ago and found the community very welcoming and helpful. I think anything creative will most certainly be welcome. There ae a lot of mappers (including me - baby steps...) but not so many musicians - so any new MIDIs will likely be very welcome.

There are a ton of WADs to play - some are very hard compared to original Doom/Doom2 WADs. Have a look around the forum - there ae plenty of posts recommending decent mapsets.

Have fun!

Cool, I'll be sure to post some then.

I've been watching MtPain27's "Dean of Doom" series on YouTube, and through that I have already found quite a few that seem interesting (especially Going Down). Though it seems like there's an infinite amount of Doom content, so I'm sure I'll find some gems here as well.
