For animated textures, How many is "too many" frames?

Question

Im making an animated water texture, but it has 64 frames, whereas doom's vanilla water has like 5. Are my 64 frames going to cause any troubles?

64 frames is perfectly safe. I'm pretty sure the system has been used with several hundred frames of animation to make movie theaters in vanilla-compat mods even back in the nineties.
