metalx1000 Posted February 16, 2021 I've been working the last month or so on a new game using the assets from FreeDoom. It's still under development, but I personally think it's great so far (says the guy who made it). It's Free and Open Source and Cross Platform, using the Godot Game Engine. Controls can be a keyboard, game pad, or touchscreen. Hope you guys check it out and let me know what you think.https://filmsbykris.com/games/2021/cyber-griffin/website/ Game play:https://odysee.com/@metalx1000:1/Cyber-Griffin_gameplay_2021.02.16:b 5 Quote Share this post Link to post
AxelMoon Posted February 17, 2021 (edited) A nice little concept, though it's a little silly to crouch in air. However, that does open the idea of rotating the crouch sprites for a jump animation. Concept seems pretty nice so far however, I'm liking it! I'd definitely wan to fix jumping or moving onto platforms however, sometimes I managed to get myself stuck trying to get off of one to grab he Megaarmor. Not stuck inside per say, but having to fiddle around to try and get off of it. Definitely keep at it however, I'd like to see more of this. Jumping off platforms while they are moving up is not an ability right now and may change in the future. I say may because I need to figure out why you can't and I've also I kinda like in some places that you can't it's some what of a game play element. So I might have two types of lifts in the future. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
metalx1000 Posted February 23, 2021 I spent a lot of time yesterday and today (why more hours than I should have) getting a basic Death Match Mode working. Check out this video of me and my 8 year old daughter playing.[Death Match Video] I had to rewrite most the player controls to get this working and then still need some tweaking. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
omx32x Posted February 24, 2021 thats really cool to see after all one of the objectives of freedoom was to make reusable sprites songs and stuff maybe its just the video quality but are you using some kind of filter in the items? if you are then a option to disable it would be nice 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

By default Godot (the game engine) wants to add a filter to smooth out sprites, but I turned that off on this project because everything would become blurry at this low of a resolution. It could be the video, but you can always check the game out. I'm still working on it a little every day, but it's playable, and should work on all major platforms. If you want to try it out but don't want to install it, you can play it in your browser, although result in the browser very from machine to machine and browser to browser.https://filmsbykris.com/games/2021/cyber-griffin/website/ If you try it out, let me know if you think the sprites still look wrong to you. Thanks. :) 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Yeah, I have it set to work with OpenGL ES3, but I've also tested it out with OpenGL ES2 on my older laptop and it seems to work fine. Not really sure which I should go with as the default, but luckily it's easy to get both running. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
