Invictus Posted February 17, 2021 Hello all, Avid doom player here, but new to the wad scene, only experience I have is playing Hell Revealed. There is an older dos game called Raptor Call of the Shadows. The music was very enjoyable and I am pretty sure it is MIDI music. I was wondering how easy / hard would it be to transfer that music over to Doom. I play doom using GZDoom. I am not very savy with audio editing, but I can follow instructions. Any and all help would be appreciated, thanks. -Leon P.S. I did a google and forum search, I could not find the music ported over to Doom. Here is a link to the music in question. http://www.vgmpf.com/Wiki/index.php?title=Raptor:_Call_of_the_Shadows_(DOS) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted February 17, 2021 (edited) Raptor actually uses natively the same music format as Doom! But not with the same tempo, so the playback speed will be very wrong. However, Doom is capable of playing MIDIs just fine. And GZDoom even more so. So just use the MIDI conversions. Really all that's needed is to put the MIDIs in your wad and give them the names of the music lumps you want them to replace (e.g. the music for MAP01 is called D_RUNNIN). Invictus Posted February 17, 2021 Hello Gez, Thanks for the info. If I understand correctly, you are saying even if i did port the music over, the speed would be completely off? I would not even no how to fix that. Sounds like this is much more work than I was hoping for :( Thanks again for the info, -Leon 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
