EsmerInHell Posted February 18, 2021 (edited) I want to know how to loop my own textures to make them repeat seamlessly. Is there some online program to do this easily, or a technique I should know about? Also, are there any good resources for making custom textures? Edit: I made my own texture. what do you think of it? Edited February 18, 2021 by EsmerInHell 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Alfwin Posted February 19, 2021 I use Krita for all my image editing. Its "wraparound mode" feature is ideal for making seamlessly-tiling textures, plus it's just a good image-editing tool all around. Ooh, that's not a bad brick texture. Simple, but there's enough detail to keep it visually interesting. I like it. That said, I do notice that it's 100x100 pixels, whereas DOOM textures tend to be in multiples of 8 (128x128 or 64x64 being the most common sizes). I don't know if deviating from that convention would cause any actual problems, but just be aware that it is a deviation from convention. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

You certainly wouldn't be able to use it as a FLAT in a wad intended to be compatible with doom.exe or doom2.exe. It appears to be a strict requirement that FLATs be exactly 64x64. In some source ports, however, the odd dimensions would not be an impediment to using the graphic image, either as a FLAT or as a TEXTURE. It could be used as a patch to be inserted into a 128x128 texture, which would work even in doom.exe or doom2.exe Edited February 19, 2021 by ReX Added information 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
