Changing the Main Menu?

CPLJigsoreQuandary

Question

I want to make the main menu look like this. Basically I just need to know how to change the layout of the menu and I think I can figure out the rest. I haven't been able to find a tutorial on it, but can someone point me toward one or some wads that have different menu layouts do I can understand how it works?

Here are some tasks to hep you customize the menu:

1. Replace the TITLEPIC with your desired graphic. [This is an optional task, as it doesn't directly affect your menu.]

2. Replace the various menu components (graphics) with your custom equivalents. This includes M_DOOM, M_OPTION, M_NGAME, M_QUITG, M_SAVEG, M_LOADG. Retain these original names from DooM.

3. If you want your cursor to change, replace M_SKULL1 & M_SKULL2

These changes will only replace the "top" menu. If you want to also replace the following menus, you'll need to replace the other lumps, such as M_SKILL, M_ROUGH, etc. You'll need to make these replacements for each of the options that follow from the "top" menu.

How can I edit where the menu options are on-screen so that they're not in the typical list format?

EDIT: Like in the picture. It's not a block-type list it's more of a rounded kind of list.

Yes, I see what you're going for. I have never created that level of customization in any of the projects in which I've been involved, so I couldn't provide you an answer off the top of my head. I wonder if there is a way to offset the graphic for each menu option. Let me poke around and see if I can find an answer.
