Dude!

Since you said you'd played it a little the previous night I was sure you must have found that Easter egg. Was dying at your perfect reaction.

Thanks for the impressions. Favourites were Stone Cold and Vince McMahon.

Couple of things: I saw more than one person get lost in the caves, and a couple of people miss those switches at the end entirely like you did.

For those moments, I'm sorry -- if the player feels lost, I reckon that's a failure on the mapper's part.

I learned a lot watching you play this. Thanks for sticking with it despite the difficulty and frustrations of getting lost!

Absolutely man! I swear I never found that easter egg last night lol. It was awesome.

I thought this would be a cool idea for a different kind of video. You guys could try it yourself if you'd like. It's fun and is a good way to keep a mappers brain exercised no mater how rudimentary it seems.

@Gwarl What a great time this was man. Great work!

Thanks :) Thought I'd locked off those chasms already but seems I need to lock them off harder; they really are just scenery/one way travel. You got really obsessed with the secret area with the chainsaw. You complained there was no reason to get it but man you got a lot of mileage from that chainsaw, I was impressed with how you worked through the arach/invuln room with no ammo. (Btw the invuln is primarily for climbing the tower but has a couple of other uses.. you got lost and ran into some imps which was okay.)

The final setpiece area has a couple of approaches.. you took the easy way - someone else complained that archvile was too awkward after approaching from a different direction. You basically just skipped past it.. I trapped a baron in front of the exit door as a 'goalkeeper' but maybe he needs a couple of HK buddies.

Edit: looked again at that ending.. was testing this with infinitely tall actors where that jump to freedom would have been impossible, but I think I'll put grates on the windows you jumped from (41:56) and flag them impassable to avoid 'skipping' the finale like that

I'll try and fix these chasms (the secret chainsaw area was the most disruptive thing to the playthrough.. I blame you not seeing the other red door on being blind) and someone else has volunteered to work on a better AJFA midi I think musicians/audiophiles are sensitive to mistakes in it.

Also watching you play this I realise the disadvantage to non-linearity - the map is designed for repeated playthroughs in an attempt to win without saves, and there are a few different overlapping routes through the level (the main point of clearing the optional manc room before going back outside is actually sound flow.. not something you could notice on a single playthrough, and the main point of clearing the jail (besides green armour/secret chainsaw) is so it's clear when you teleport back in much later.. there are some other optional areas you didn't see.. most of the tricker areas can be approached in several ways) which feed you health and ammo without strictly progressing you toward the exit - but most people will play most wads once, and if there are too many side routes it'll just be a mess.

Sorry for big ramble, thanks for playing!

Thanks so much for checking it out! I'm still working out a few kinks and trimming the fat in some places but you got the main idea. Glad you found it so cathartic, I worry that most players would find it too relaxed but it's about on par with the pacing that I enjoy in wads as well. I'm working on map 03 now and will hopefully have a full episode by the end of the year (positive thinking).

I wanna see those action figures, I used to collect Todd McFarlane figures as a teen from Spawn, Movie Maniacs, Twisted Land of Oz and the weird shit he did with Clive Barker. I love that stuff!

Yo Dubbag, here's my speedmap for the speedmapping event by BluePineapple72 called Clandestine Castle Crashing and the main theme there is minimum 10 secrets. I don't actually have a thread for this speedmap since it was a part of the whole set.

- Map Name: From grave to brave

- Author: Man With a Gun (MWG)

- IWAD: Doom 2

- Format: Boom (Complevel 9)

- Difficulty Settings: Nope, Nyet, Nein.

- Build Time: 8hrs.

- Comments: It's just a small and classic gothic map with 10 secrets.

Welp, all caught up! Bring on the requests :)

I posted one a couple of pages ago you didn't do. Granted, I did say that you could skip it if you wanted. But if you're bored, you could give it a shot.

It's a MAP 08 replacement, "More Tricks and Traps than you Require". GZDoom recommended.

It's a long map, 600-ish enemies, about an hour for full completion, although a lot of the map is optional. The doors off the hub can be played in any order.  It is a fairly tough map which might require concentration at points. There should be a reasonable amount of health and ammo, and I also include frequent autosave triggers, so someone who saves themself into a corner might not need to restart the entire map.

Hey man, another ass kicker lol.

Ayyyy, thank you for the playthrough, glad you enjoyed this. Yeah, you actually gave a good laugh when you said this map is hard, because I recently give you the most easiest maps that i've done so far.

Btw what's the wad that you working on? Maybe i'll do some play testing for it when it will come out :v
