Essential stuff for fans of Lee Jackson

The recording session for the Nu-metal version of my song "Stalker" by San Antonio group Agony went down last night, and I hear it went down well. I'm now waiting on receiving the stems and any other audio data that might come from the session so that I can do mixing and mastering of the final song. I'm really looking forward to working on it!

I have the stems and have begun mixing. This is fun!

Mixing and mastering are complete on "Come Get Some," and the 44kHz/16-bit CD-Audio master + final MP3 have been delivered to the members of Agony, along with a few other goodies. :)  Everything is in Agony's hands now.

 

I want to publicly thank @BassSlapper89 and the rest of the Agony crew. I asked them to go into the studio and kick some ass, and ass was well and truly kicked in their recording session. They have been killer to work with. I hope we can work together again in the future.

So I'm assuming that we need to guess which Duke Nukem 3D track this refers to? I tried to mentally sing this to various tunes (I briefly listened to the SC-55 soundtrack to refresh my memory), but somehow -- it's probably wrong, but somehow -- I'm inclined to think of The City Streets. But that was written by Bobby Prince, wasn't it?

It's not to an existing track...at least, it's not to a track that's been released yet. Tune in Friday, May 26th. :) :) :)

Yes, that's one of Bobby's tracks. It doesn't have lyrics.

Honestly, I cannot listen to the Shadow Warrior title theme without hearing Shadow, Shadow Warrior in my head ever since you revealed that little piece of history about how this song came to be :)

No, the re-imagining of Stalker is a total workover, with lyrics that only line up with the re-worked song itself. They're very crunchy. Imagine Slipknot, for example, or other Nü-Metal bands - lots of yelling will be involved. ;)

Woo hoo. I get to have foot surgery again.

 

I have a sesamoid bone on my right foot that has migrated out of place and is now between the bone that runs to my big toe and the ball of my right foot. As a result, it's putting pressure on the flesh and causing breakthrough ulcers and pain on the ball of my foot. I found this out at my podiatrist's office today - he took an X-ray which showed the migration. The only way to fix the problem is to cut off the sesamoid bone and pull it out through the left side of my foot.

 

I don't have a surgery date yet, since I just learned I'll need surgery today. I do know the surgery will be outpatient, and that I should be able to walk on my right foot the same day of the surgery. Once I get a date, I'll post it here.

"There's the option to switch soundtracks between the MIDI versions of Lee Jackson's original songs, as well as the 2013 remake's (you should never do this). Lee Jackson's work here is still stunning in 2023, a soundtrack that puts others throughout the ages to shame. "Goin' down the Fast Way" has one of the nastiest bass lines I've ever heard in MIDI, and that drum break at the 38 second mark sucks the air out of my lungs. Still waiting for the $%^&! surgical scheduler for my podiatrist to call me back. I called them on Friday and managed to get through the phone tree to an actual human, but it turned out that the phone tree was directing people to the wrong extensions. I got forwarded to the right extension, where, naturally, I had to leave a message. Sigh. I'm not giving up, damnit.

Foot surgery is scheduled at last! I'm set to go in for my pre-op appointment on June 26th, and then the actual surgery will follow on June 29th. I then have a post-op follow-up scheduled on July 5th. Now I can get rid of the cause of these ulcers!

No, they've just made things uncomfortable. You can imagine what life is like with a half-dollar-sized black spot of pain on the ball of your foot, one that the podiatrist has to cut into every month or so. It''s bled beneath the skin. I imagine that if I were in a working environment, walking around with shoes on all day, I'd be in considerably more pain, but I have to keep my legs elevated because of the chronic leg swelling I'm stuck with, so it could be worse.

My foot surgery, scheduled for today, has been cancelled. I've got an upper respiratory infection, and I'm too sick for the operation. It'll have to be rescheduled. Bleh.
