Under that cloak, would you also be in favor of John Locke's theory of Tabula Rasa? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

The place the game takes place in i believe. So which philosophers do you fellas like? I was really philosophing around in my head at my Teenage Years. I wanted to find a Way to be fair and honorful to everyone, even when interest of different Parties conflicted. My Head was really spinning around, but i found my "Codex" . Later i found out that it is a Mixture of Meditations of Marcus Aurelius and Warrior of Light from Paolo Coelho. It would have saved me of spending Years of thinking Time reading those Books back than. But well, i can say i've got the same Thoughs as Philosophs all by myself. I wanted to answer to this since a week but work was overtaking my free time. I don't believe in the tabula rasa and I don't think you can mold people into what you desire through education. I think the role of society is to assist the maturation of people, and that by either spoiling them or restraining them, you make them dysfonctional and therefore prone to "evil", just like a misused machine is likely to break and cause damage. Frustration breeds perversion, you could say. People yearn meaning more than pleasure. Maybe some people are born fucked up, but it's a bit of a freaky hypothesis. And also I think life is more than a chemical phenomenon and that men are more than machines. Edited March 10, 2021 by Sunnyfruit 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

DooM Bear Posted March 31, 2021 I’m a nihilist so therefore I believe studying philosophy is pointless XD Jks. While most of my world views are very nihilistic I like to read all different view points in an attempt to understand where they are coming from :-) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Sena Posted April 2, 2021 Between Diogenes, Cioran, and to a lesser extent Schopenhauer, the philosophers I like seem to be the ones that always nobody particularly liked when they were alive. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Arrowhead Posted April 2, 2021 (edited) I like: Philippe Aries, Foucault, Susan Neiman, Chomsky, Hegel, Cioran, Rorty, Kong Fuzi, Russell, Hume, Plato, Diogenes the Cynic, and Voltaire. Edited April 2, 2021 by Arrowhead12 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Eric Claus Posted April 3, 2021 Philosophy can be interesting, even if you don't ascribe to a certain philosophy I think it can be beneficial to chew on things when you have time to kill. One that also ventures a bit more in the political science realm but does have plenty of philosophical elements (seemingly nihilist before Nietzsche but I couldn't tell you to what extent). While I don't generally agree with him the whole notion of a lot of aspects of our civilization and society being essentially illusions (or spooks of the mind) is an interesting thought. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I found writing service here to help me with that task. These guys are pro in writing and proofreading. I would strongly discourage you, or anyone else, from using this service, assuming you're essentially using it to cheat on your university assignments. Aside from the fact that it'll do your own intellectual development no good at all, you run the risk of being disqualified from your degree programme for plagiarism. No essay question is so difficult that it should be necessary to outsource the work someone else. I'd also be very suspicious of the quality of the work that these guys produce. If there's something in the Mediations that you're unclear on then feel free to say what it is and I can try to clarify it for you. Edited April 6, 2021 by durian 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Soundblock Posted April 3, 2021 Love the subject but have only dabbled. Thinkers whose expressions enriched include Sokrates (found Plato to maybe overthink a bit), Sun Tzu (the generally applicable concepts, violent conflict or not), Descartes (but be kind to animals bro, wtf), Wittgenstein (even if seemingly largely systemized rehash), Jung (basically just the archetypes, never delved deep), Einstein (I don’t feign to understand his specifics but its clear his conclusions have had a rather definitive effect on human thinking & he’s got plenty good anecdotes besides), Ghandi, Chomsky, Borges & since we’re approaching the border to poetry... Dave Arneson & Leonard Cohen. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Funny you mention Sun Tzu I enjoyed his work and actually to go along with it Clauswitz had a very blunt take on warfare that I found fascinating, namely, it is an ultimately a political instrument to enforce your will upon another, or to prevent such from happening in return. Sun Tzu seems to go with that as well. Edited April 3, 2021 by Eric Claus 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

That's just SEO spam link, I reported the post of that user to moderators. You'd probably want to clean the spam link from the quote of the spammer in your post as well. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
Cosmos Of Kings Posted April 7, 2021 The Wealth of Nations by Adam Smith was a fun read, although I only read it because of its relevance to my studies. In general, I've only been interested in philosophers' works who were positively significant to particular scientific disciplines (Physics, Math, Economics). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
