Why doesn't this midi work?

I'm building a new map, and as a placeholder, I decided to use a spooky midi from X-Com: Ufo Defense to match the tone of the early parts of the map I'm making.

However, GZDoom doesn't want to play the midi.  I've tried several routes, normally, I just use the ZMAPINFO to play the tune, but when that didn't work, I renamed the midi to D_RUNNIN.  No matter what, nothing plays.  I don't think I'm doing anything wrong with instructing Doom to play music, so there's probably something wrong with the midi itself.  I'd love to know what that is.

I think because its not coded as a regular midi.

When you put on slade, on the side, there is a collumn of file type, and this one is listed as MUSIC (RMID).

To be usable on it must be on a format playable by the engine.

And those are .mid, .mus, .mp3, .ogg, .mod and some others, but RMID is not one of those.

Unfortunatelly, i have no idea how to change it to another format.

Probably opening it on a music editor could work, but i don't know for sure.

That's as good an answer as any.  Interestingly, the source of those midis apparently isn't the XCOM source files.  I just downloaded XCOM off of Steam and the exact same track works just fine in Doom.

I then did a google search of what the heck an RMID is, which is apparently a midi format which includes identifying data and downloadable sounds (or something like that).  Yet the file I tried to use basically had none of that.  At least I have a workaround.  Thanks for the answer.
