Your opinion on Brutal Doom

I think it does stray from DOOM but I enjoy it. It isn't trying to stay true to DOOM so it shouldn't be expected. It isn't for everybody, but it's good in my opinion.

My opinion:

1. It's not my cup of tea, it doesn't tickle my pickle, doesn't scratch my itch. I've never been a fan of this whole macho gorefest sort of thing. The Doom Comic was funny, once.
2. It's impressive how this massive mess even runs in the first place.
3. It's annoying that people keep bringing it up over and over again, speaking of which...
4. It's quite concerning that people won't stop asking everyone's opinion on it. We all know what we know, the question doesn't have to be asked again.

In my opinion, it's very very good. The amount of work and detail put into it are astonishing. It's definitely not for me, i'm more on the vanilla side, but it's good that it exists.

I was really impressed with BD at first and basically didn't play Doom without it for a long time. I got bored of it though and went back to no mods.

 

I just started using Supercharge after seeing a video of someone playing one of my maps with that, and I absolutely love it! Supercharge rules.

I like Brutal Doom, it has nice weapons and awesome sounds, plus the gore is really funny and makes the game feel satisfying. Also what I forgot to add, I think the people who call the mod edgy and dumb all the time are REALLY ANNOYING.

The mechanics of this game works really good in maps that are GZDoom exlusive, it's really flow better.

Also a great plus it's the enchament addon, that's make changes to the original maps so it's feel different, but never tried the Plutonias ones, the only way im see doing it's activating their classsic mode and classic mode enemies.

I have to say that discovering BD a few years back definitely rekindled my love of DooM. I probably would not be here if it were not for BD, and I am probably not the only one. Whatever your opinion of Sgt Mark, and the quality of the coding of the mod itself, I think that it has had a hugely positive influence on the popularity of the franchise as a whole.

opinion threads often lead to shitshows, which is why when another one gets posted on a semi-controversial mod and there's already been more than 5 of the same discussion we get annoyed. I may write an etiquette guide, but seriously, the search function is there for a reason. it's starting to feel like "shower thoughts hours" up in here.

To try to end this pointless convo, at one side of the coin, I understand that new people are STILL discovering the classic Doom and their plethora of mods, especially Brutal Doom which we all know it's popular for a million reasons. And that's fine because that helps the game to have more longevity.

However, on the other side of that same coin, people who are in Doom forums for long enough can be seriously annoyed for the reasons that they already put a million times. It is a loop that it's hard to break it. I know that you are one of few who are trying to break this.....annoying loop but uh.....time will tell.

If you seriously want to sell us that someone who uses one of the most widely known mods out there thinks that this discussion has never happened on a forum dedicated to the very game that mod is for, you might as well be trying to argue that an entire tribe of nomads in the sahara has never seen a grain of sand anywhere...

 

The possible absence of a search function is also a fair bit of a reach, like Dhalsim from Street Fighter kind of a reach...

 

I don't think this requires an"etiquette guide", because checking if a thread like the one you're looking to make already exists is something that should be common sense, and other new users here did actually manage to do that, by the way...

 

Yeah, the dog-piling does get annoying, because what's the point in echoing for the tenth time that threads like this one already exist, which is just about the only point you made that I would be inclined to agree with, but everything else you're holding against the rest of the members here is not a hill I'd want to die on, to be honest...

I have news for you: people here aren't mad, they're tired of seeing the same types of discussions time and time again...

 

On top of all the "what is your most hated/least favourite/most annoying/ugliest/shittiest/mostest disappointingest" kinds of threads lately this is another one of those things people have become tired of.... nobody here is raging, the problem is that "doom general" has turned into an ever-repeating cycle of "bash threads" paired with groundhog day threads like this one and if you think that pointing that out is the same as being mad, you may just as well think that you and I are having a knife fight in a back-alley right now...

a) It's not my responsibility to find a way how this problem can be addressed because b) I don't run these forums, but despite that I have c) made the more than reasonable suggestion that using the search bar is an easy way to prevent "topic fatigue", because that's d) common sense... If you wanna argue, at least pay attention to what's been said before you do...

 

Oh, and if you plan on having something akin to a discussion, it might be a good idea to stop exaggerating anything and everything you can get your hands on... I admit, when I first heard of Doom 2016 (before any image had been released), I immediately had it pictured as a commercial release of Brutal Doom; basically the exact same character designs and aesthetics as Classic Doom with Brutal Doom mechanics, but all in 3D.
