Eurisko Posted March 16, 2021 I've stopped buying 99% of new releases because of this exact thing. I have two curses Doom and Sonic The Hedgehog, both consume nearly all of my video game time with the exception of a tad of GTA/Red Dead 2 with a friend every so often and A few lads I play DBD with on a saturday night- and that's only just been a recent thing. I play the latest Spider-Man games on release which I will admit that 2018 release absolutely captivated me , and I like a bit of Resident Evil every so often. I did get hooked on Star Trek Online for about a week a little while ago but that faded and I was back on Doom before long. I do keep up with what's hot and what's not in the gaming world but very rarely do I buy them because I'll lose interest after 'X' amount of time and be straight back to the good stuff. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
P41R47 Posted March 16, 2021 Before making myself into megawads, around 2001, i played Doom almost all days a week. Then the myth of the virus michelangelo struck my neighbourghood and so i stoped playing. At that time computer aknowledge wasn't common, so a virus was thought like something kinda like a flu, so my pc was with a scarf and i didn't use it for around 5 years. I started highschool and i get a better pc so i started paying doom again regularly instead of a few times a week. Then Kama Sutra was release, and Gusta and Method give me another reason to play non stop again. Since then, i didn't stopped playing. And i have heavy urges of getting into mapping that i restricting myself since like 12 years ago. I don't want to get into it because i feel its a one way journey, and i want to do others things on my life. Its really a curse like no other. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
leodoom85 Posted March 16, 2021 You might say it's a curse while others can say that's a blessing. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gokuma Posted March 16, 2021 I had the curse of grinding for skins and gear in Mortal Kombat 11. Fortunately I recently broke it, since I haven't touched the game in probably over a month. I just can't get over much great stuff there is for Doom now. I see mind blowing screenshots but have stuff piling up I need to play and a bunch of different wads I played a ways into, but need to finish. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rytrik Posted March 16, 2021 It's a solid game with solid mechanics & a high skill ceiling. Plus it gives the player plenty of control. There's also no unnecessary fluff. It makes sense why it would be your top pick of game. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Dubbag Posted March 16, 2021 (edited) The curse of "Doom" will never leave you. It shall cling to you forever and many generations to come. Following you through the brightest of light and the blackest of darkness as you walk upon the wretched surface of this Earth within it's ever following and encumbering shadow . The "Doom Curse" is eternal and affects all of us. None know of how to lift it, and none dare try. Legend tells of a book containing a spell to reverse it, but it has yet been proven to exist. However, this affliction has been around since the beginning of recorded time... Here we have an ancient Greek bas-relief of the first recorded account of the "Doom Curse". It portrays a woman preparing to play "Master Levels". Edited March 17, 2021 by Dubbag 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
HLRaven Posted March 17, 2021 Ever since I finished my first ever Megawad (Ancient Aliens) I've been having the Doom itch for about a year now, I've been playing wads, modded and vanilla and what not. Hell I am about to try out Weapons of Saturn right now! Doom is one hell of an drug 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Yumheart Posted March 17, 2021 I don't even play that many video games in general cuz of stupid amounts of homework. But if I do, it's usually Doom, even though I own a lot of other old-school shooters which are probably worth playing as well. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
