How tall is doomguy?

Google says his six feat and 8 inches 

I think he would have to be a little taller to reach those buttons

What do you think?

So... that makes all the zombie men, shotgunners, chaingunners, and imps 7 feet tall? Yeah I'm not buying that. Possibly the "Doomslayer" is that tall after they retconned the Hell out of him, but I would say the Doomguy is around 5'10".

I like the idea that Doomguy is kind of a Manlet. In Eternal, he looks like he's shorter than the UAC security guards.

 

I dunno, in my head canon he's like 5'7". So not like super short, but clearly a stocky build.

Wasn't there like a widely accepted conversion rate for Map Units into feet or meters that we once used to determine Doomguy's height?

Whenever I draw doom marine he's short, stocky and overburdened with his guns. I think I'm influenced by the fact that the camera viewpoint in doom seems to be in his stomach

Actually the Camera PoV is from the front of his scooter.

I'd say 185 cm. Seems more appropiate for him to have a decent height.

Pretty sure it was the other way around, and the profile above was used to determine the size of everything else in Doom.

I would say he would have to be around 6ft/180cm/1.8 meters, somewhere around that. Between his armour and the weapons he wields, I really can't see him being 5'7 or below. So I'll go with 6ft to 6'2 and of stocky build. I consider him beefy due to his military background and natural build, but not beefcake status.

 

That said, I could imagine him being around 5'8 to 5'9ft, nothing below that though. I prefer the original Doom games version of him, they went into superhero territory in the modern games and you can clearly see the Marvel influence. Not my thing, a new character sure but not Doomguy. That's kind of the problem with remakes, the older fans already have a well established image of him. Enjoyed the modern Doom games despite that, it's just a nitpick of mine.

 

I liked it better when he was a (above average human) marine, thrown into the meat grinder and going through hell. Barely surviving by the skin of his teeth, beat to shit, exhausted and sporting several cuts and wounds. I don't know, it just seems more gritty and realistic (yes I know it's Doom, but still).

About that new character but not DoomGuy they should've kept it as a reboot instead of sequels because it really doesn't make sense, he's just so different and retconned. If they rebooted the series the well established image of him wouldn't have hurt Doomguy's "character" as much because the Doom Slayer is still a badass demon murderer but he's a different character, like actually different. 

 

Back on topic I also agree with you with his height, he can't be too short because of his weaponry like the Rocket Launcher and BFG 9000. Though I agree with the other post that it feels weird to see the shotgunners and Imps are so fucking tall

More or less how I view it as well. Still, I really enjoyed the new games despite that so it's just a nitpick of mine.

He's 6' according to some Quake 3 info. it's kinda funny that he's still shorter than the Quake characters.

I think I found how tall he is

He should be about 880 pixels when changed to inches is 9.166666666666666 when changed to feet is 0.76388888888888872852

If I remember correctly there is a specific analysis that concludes the aspect ratio of Doom universe is not the same as ours. So height and width cannot be exact which was a barrier in creating realism maps of like peoples homes and offices. I can’t remember where I read that, though
